Your Opportunity:
The Herff Jones Cap and Gown team, based in Arcola IL, is looking for a Maintenance Technician to join our team.

What You'll Be Doing On A Daily Basis:

- Daily PM's on machines and facilities as scheduled.
- Machine diagnostic and repair (sewing machines, air compressors, conveyor systems)
- Facility maintenance includes light fixture repairs, pallet rack repair, etc.
- Working with other departments to determine the best solutions to issues presented.
- Fabrication for small projects to expand current capabilities.
- Building system infrastructure inspections and repairs as needed.
What You'll Bring to the Table:
- Ability to prioritize and organize with a sense of urgency in a fast-paced environment. 1-3 yrs
- Desire and willingness to learn complex machinery. 1-2yrs
- Strong technical problem-solving skills. 3-5yrs
- PLC diagnostics and repair 1-3yrs
- Ability to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical system failures. 3-5 yrs
- Familiarity with CMMS systems 1-3yrs
- Ability to work with small parts (sewing machine parts)
- Must be willing and able to be on an "on call" list for the facility security alarm system.
- Maintain a neat and clean work environment.
- Must be able to attend both offsite and onsite training.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule as needed including overtime.
- Work independently with little supervision.
- Assist and participate in Six Sigma, Lean or Continuous Improvement projects.
- Follow LOTO and PPE procedures as required.
- Assist with other facility needs as they arise.
Education / Certifications:
- Associate's degree in mechanical or electrical maintenance strongly preferred.
- Mechanical/Electrical experience will be considered in place of a degree.
Physical Requirements:
- Daily activity includes but is not limited to lifting, carrying, sitting, grasping, reaching, standing, kneeling, walking, bending, twisting.
- Daily operation of hand tools including ratcheting wrenches, sockets, etc.
- Reading, communication, math.
- Standing for 8 hours a day or longer.
- Ability to regularly lift/move up to 50lbs.
- Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
- Physical strength and dexterity to perform essential job functions.
