Job Summary

HD Distribution LLC is seeking a skilled and proactive Maintenance & Manufacturing Engineer to oversee and maintain facility infrastructure, utility systems, mechanical equipment and automated production machinery at our Colorado Springs facility.

In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring peak operational efficiency across manufacturing lines - including liquid stick pack machines, gummy processing and depositing equipment, bottling, and packaging systems. You will lead preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and emergency repairs across electrical, pneumatic, plumbing, and refrigeration/chiller systems in a cGMP-compliant manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Equipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Perform scheduled maintenance, diagnostics, and mechanical/electrical repairs on automated production lines, liquid stick pack fillers, conveyor systems, mixing kettles, and packaging machinery.
  • Electrical Systems: Troubleshoot low-to-medium voltage electrical circuits, control panels, sensors, motors, variable frequency drives (VFDs), and basic PLC controls.
  • Pneumatics & Compressed Air: Maintain and repair pneumatic equipment, air compressors, solenoids, pneumatic actuators, regulators, and vacuum pumps.
  • Refrigeration & HVAC Systems: Monitor, troubleshoot, and perform routine servicing on facility HVAC, process chillers, environmental control systems, and walk-in cold storage units.
  • Plumbing & Fluid Handling: Install, maintain, and repair sanitary piping, fluid transfer pumps, water purification systems, and general facility plumbing.
  • Preventative Maintenance (PM) Program: Execute and refine the facility’s preventative maintenance schedule using our internal inventory/MRP tracking tools to minimize unscheduled downtime.
  • Safety & Compliance: Maintain full compliance with cGMP, OSHA, FDA, and local safety standards. Keep meticulous documentation of maintenance logs, equipment repairs, and calibration records.
  • Vendor & Project Coordination: Coordinate with external contractors, equipment vendors, and parts suppliers for specialized equipment repairs or facility upgrades.

Qualifications & Requirements

Experience:

Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on maintenance or manufacturing engineering experience in an industrial production setting (nutraceutical, food & beverage, dietary supplement, or pharmaceutical manufacturing experience preferred).

Technical Skills:

  • Demonstrated expertise in troubleshooting electrical, pneumatic, and plumbing systems
  • Proven experience servicing industrial refrigeration/chiller units and HVAC systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).

Certifications / Education:

  • Trade certification, Associate degree, or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline preferred.
  • EPA Universal Refrigeration Certification or Licensed Electrician status is a strong plus.

Attributes:

  • Strong problem-solving skills, ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, and high attention to detail regarding machinery calibration and regulatory cleanliness.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • Physical capability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work comfortably in tight spaces or near operating production machinery.
  • On-site position at our primary facility in Colorado Springs, CO.
