About the Role
HarCon is a commercial sitework and utility installation company serving Palm Beach and St. Lucie Counties. We are seeking an experienced Pipe Crew Foreman to lead underground utility crews on active heavy civil projects — including storm drainage, water main, sanitary sewer, and force main installation.
This role is responsible for overseeing daily field operations, managing crew productivity, and ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project plans and specifications.
What You'll Do
- Lead and supervise pipe crews on underground utility installations
- Coordinate daily work activities to meet production goals and project schedules
- Oversee installation of:
- Storm drainage systems (RCP, HDPE, corrugated)
- Water main systems (including fittings, valves, thrust restraint)
- Sanitary sewer systems (gravity mains, laterals, manholes)
- Force mains (PVC, DIP, HDPE with proper joint restraint/fusion methods)
- Read and interpret civil drawings, profiles, and grade sheets
- Ensure pipe is installed to proper line and grade using lasers, transits, and grade systems
- Coordinate with Project Managers, Superintendents, and inspectors
- Schedule inspections and ensure compliance with project specifications
- Enforce jobsite safety, including trench safety and OSHA requirements
- Monitor crew performance, equipment usage, and material needs
- Maintain daily reports, quantities, and jobsite documentation
Qualifications
- Minimum 2+ years experience as a Pipe Crew Foreman
- Minimum 5+ years experience in underground utility construction (pipelaying)
- Strong experience with:
- Storm drainage
- Water main
- Sanitary sewer
- Force main
- Proven ability to lead crews and manage jobsite operations
- Ability to read and interpret utility construction plans and grade sheets
- Strong understanding of OSHA trench safety requirements
- OSHA 10/30 certification preferred; Competent Person (Trenching) strongly preferred
- Valid driver’s license; CDL a plus
- Strong communication and organizational skills
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Ability to work in trenches and confined spaces
- Ability to lift/move materials 50+ lbs as needed
- Willingness to work extended hours and occasional weekends as project demands require
