The Opportunity

Happier Grocery is looking for an experienced and passionate Wellness & Health Manager to lead one of our most dynamic and impactful categories. Reporting directly to the VP of Procurement & Merchandising, this role will shape the vision and strategy for our wellness and health business across all store locations.

As the category owner, you will drive assortment strategy, purchasing, inventory management, and merchandising while delivering an elevated customer experience that reflects Happier Grocery's unique approach to health, discovery, and community. You'll partner closely with store leadership, vendors, and emerging brands to identify trends, introduce innovative products, and build a best-in-class wellness destination that inspires our customers and fuels business growth.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Regional Strategy & Performance

• Develop and execute a comprehensive wellness & health strategy across all stores aligned with company goals
• Analyze sales trends and KPIs across locations to identify opportunities and drive performance improvements
• Set regional sales targets and partner with store leadership to achieve and exceed goals
• Monitor and report on business performance, providing actionable insights and recommendations

Purchasing & Inventory Management

• Own purchasing strategy and assortment planning for all wellness & health categories
• Source new and emerging products at the forefront of the wellness industry that align with Happier Grocery’s values and standards
• Build direct relationships with brand founders and partners to support exclusive offerings and long-term collaboration
• Manage vendor relationships, including negotiations, pricing, and product selection
• Ensure optimal inventory levels across stores, minimizing stockouts and excess
• Analyze sell-through and inventory data to inform reorders and product lifecycle decisions

Merchandising & Brand Execution

• In partnership with the Director of Visual Merchandising, establish and maintain consistent merchandising standards across all locations
• Oversee product launches, seasonal updates, and promotional displays
• Ensure brand integrity and a luxury presentation in all stores
• Collaborate with marketing on in-store activations, events, and campaigns

Team Leadership & Development

• Develop and implement a comprehensive product knowledge and sales training program for in-store teams
• Ensure ongoing education around new brands, product efficacy, and storytelling to elevate the client experience
• Partner with store managers to recruit, train, and develop in-store wellness teams
• Provide coaching and ongoing education on product knowledge, sales techniques, and customer experience
• Foster a high-performance, client-focused culture across all locations

Customer Experience & Innovation

• Ensure a best-in-class, consistent customer experience across all stores
• Continuously identify and introduce innovative brands and products that reflect evolving customer needs and industry trends
• Identify and implement new services, trends, and innovations in the wellness & health space
• Stay informed on industry trends, competitor activity, and emerging brands

PRINCIPAL SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED

• 5+ years of experience in wellness & health retail, including multi-unit or regional management
• Strong experience in wellness & health, assortment planning, or merchandising preferred
• Proven track record of driving sales growth across multiple locations
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into actionable strategies
• Exceptional leadership and team development capabilities
• Strong vendor management and negotiation skills
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and strategic thinker
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Willingness to travel between store locations as needed
• Flexibility to support business needs, including weekends and peak periods
