Greer First Preschool

Greer First Preschool is seeking dependable, caring, and enthusiastic Substitute Teachers to join our preschool team. Our Substitute Teachers provide classroom coverage when regular staff members are absent, helping us maintain a consistent, loving, and nurturing environment for our students.

This is an as-needed position and is not a full-time or guaranteed-hours position. Substitute Teachers must be flexible and willing to accept assignments based on the needs of the preschool. Some opportunities may be scheduled in advance, while others may require availability on short notice, including same-day requests. For example, a substitute may be contacted as early as 7:00 AM when a staff member is unexpectedly absent. While we value our substitutes and appreciate their willingness to serve our students, there is no guarantee of work hours during the school year.

• Provide a safe, loving, and nurturing environment for preschool-aged children
• Follow classroom routines, schedules, and lesson plans provided by the lead teacher
• Engage children in age-appropriate activities, play, learning experiences, and classroom discussions
• Assist with classroom management while encouraging kindness, respect, and positive behavior
• Support children’s social, emotional, and developmental needs
• Supervise children during classroom activities, playground time, transitions, meals, and other daily routines
• Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom environment
• Partner with teachers and staff to support the mission and values of Greer First Preschool
• Model a positive attitude and a Christ-like example when interacting with children, families, and coworkers
• Abide by all Greer First Preschool, DSS and DHEC policies.

• Dependable, flexible, and willing to work on an as-needed basis
• Ability to respond to substitute requests with flexibility and reliability
• High school diploma or GED; early childhood college credits are a plus.
• Prior work with young children or in a school setting. Preferably in a DSS Licensed facility.
• Patience, high energy, flexibility, and clear communication.
• Must pass federal and state fingerprint-based criminal history checks, a state sex offender registry check, and a child abuse/neglect central registry check prior to working. Pass health physical and valid CPR/First Aid certification preferred.
• Complete 15 hours of online training classes yearly.
• Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs.

Greer First Baptist Church has offered a Christ-centered preschool for over 40 years. We are thankful for the opportunity to build on this legacy, opening our newly renovated facilities in September 2021.
