Job description

Health Planner

The part-time, 16 hour/week Health Planner is a grant funded position responsible for assisting Green County Health Department in achieving its grant objectives and deliverables as outlined by the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS). This position will create and modify preparedness related plans, coordinate training and exercises, and support the maturation of the department's preparedness, response, and recovery capabilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Essential duties and responsibilities including the following: Grant Specific Responsibilities: Facilitate the completion of an annual hazard vulnerability assessment (HVA). Identify and develop strategies to address equity gaps in dispensing/administering medical countermeasures. Organize and plan exercises and trainings with partners using a whole community approach that ensures the diversity of individuals and populations is addressed, specifically including those with access and functional needs. Maintain WEAVR and conduct at least one alerting drill (or utilize the system during an event) to alert registered volunteers. Participate in the regional HERC as an active member. Attend all relevant Wisconsin Department of Health Services webinars and communication sessions. Update mass dispensing and mass vaccination clinic sites in the Points of Dispensing Management tool on the PCA portal. Management and Finance: Monitor and track all department staff preparedness training needs, ensuring use of professional development opportunities available. Maintain emergency contacts for staff assigned to preparedness and/or response roles on the PCA Portal. Manage program and services within current and projected resources for public health emergency preparedness. Contribute to the development of contingency plans and risk communication plans for department operations. Performs additional duties and responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time. The Core Competencies (and sub-competencies) for Public Health Professionals applicable to this position are italicized through this position description and represent the foundation of skills and knowledge required for the effective delivery of public health services to the Green County community.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Any preferred qualifications listed are additional skills or experiences that are desirable but not considered to be essential. Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's Degree in health education or health related field preferred. However, equivalent health-related work experience may be considered in lieu of equivalent field of study. One (1) year professional experience in a healthcare, public health, or community health setting is required. Experience with project or grant based work is preferred. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Must have a valid Wisconsin driver's license and/or access to reliable transportation across Green County. If using a personal vehicle for transportation, proof of insurance is required. National Incident Management System (NIMS) /Incident Command System (ICS) 100, 200, 700, and 800 certifications within one (1) year of employment are required.
