  • Run precision EDM work on Makino CNC EDM machines
  • Work with graphite and copper electrodes for complex profiles, cavities, features, and tight-tolerance details
  • Interpret blueprints, drawings, models, GD&T, tolerances, and customer specifications
  • Perform EDM burning, electrode setup, alignment, offset adjustments, and process troubleshooting
  • Support work involving C-axis EDM, helical EDM, indexing, carbide circuit, and fine-finish EDM applications
  • Inspect your own work using precision measuring tools and quality documentation
  • Work closely with machining, grinding, quality, engineering, and production teams
  • Maintain clean, organized, accurate, and repeatable setups
  • Support continuous improvement, process stability, and first-time-right manufacturing
Equipment & Technology You May Use:
KMM's EDM and manufacturing capabilities include:
  • Makino EDAF-3 CNC EDM with C Axis
  • Makino EDNC-32 CNC EDM
  • Fine Finish Carbide circuit EDM capability
  • Helical EDMing and indexing capability
  • 8-station and 16-position tool changer EDM systems
  • Graphite and copper electrode-based EDM processes
  • Mastercam
  • Esprit CAD/CAM
  • SolidWorks
  • CMMs, optical comparators, micrometers, gages, and precision inspection equipment

Our facility also includes Wire EDM, 3/4/5-axis CNC machining, mill-turn, Swiss machining, grinding, finishing, passivation, laser marking, and advanced inspection capabilities.
โ€ข What We're Looking For
This role is a strong fit for someone who is dependable, curious, and hands-on.
Preferred Requirements:
  • 5+ years of Sinker EDM, RAM EDM, Conventional EDM, or Plunge EDM experience
  • EDM programming, setup, and operation experience
  • Experience with Makino EDM or similar CNC EDM equipment
  • Strong blueprint reading skills
  • Working knowledge of GD&T
  • Experience producing tight-tolerance precision components
  • Ability to work with graphite and/or copper electrodes
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to inspect your own work and maintain quality standards
  • Comfort working in a high-mix, precision manufacturing environment
Bonus Points if you have experience with:
  • Makino EDAF or Makino EDNC experience
  • Experience with helical EDM, C-axis EDM, indexing, carbide circuit, or fine-finish EDM
  • Electrode manufacturing experience
  • Graphite electrode experience
  • Copper electrode experience
  • Mastercam experience
  • Esprit CAD/CAM experience
  • SolidWorks or model-based manufacturing experience
  • Toolmaking, moldmaking, or tool & die background
  • Medical device manufacturing experience
  • Aerospace, defense, or space manufacturing experience
  • Experience with first article inspection, in-process inspection, or close-tolerance quality documentation

Physical Requirements
  • Stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.
  • Frequently use hands and fingers to operate machinery, tools, controls, gauges, and measuring instruments.
  • Distinguish colors, displays, indicators, and measurement markings when performing programming, setup verification, and inspection-related tasks.
  • Communicate effectively with machinists, engineers, quality personnel, and production teams in a manufacturing environment.
  • Visually inspect parts, tooling, machine displays, blueprints, and measurement devices, including the ability to distinguish fine details and small dimensional variations.
  • Occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull materials, tooling, and equipment weighing up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally, with or without assistance.
  • Safely operate material handling equipment and lifting devices when required.
  • Work around moving mechanical equipment, cutting tools, metal chips, coolants, lubricants, and other manufacturing-related materials.
  • Tolerate exposure to moderate noise levels typical of a manufacturing environment while using required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Maintain regular attendance and work scheduled overtime as needed to support production requirements.
ITAR Requirement
KMM is an ITAR-registered facility. Applicants must be a U.S. citizen or have a valid Green Card.
Benefits & Perks
  • Medical, prescription, dental, and vision insurance

  • Employee advocacy support for benefits-related needs

Why KMM
KMM Group manufactures precision components that support life-changing and mission-critical technology. Our work serves medical device, aerospace, defense, space exploration, and advanced engineering customers.
This is a good fit for someone who wants more than "load the job and hit cycle start." You will work on challenging parts, difficult details, and precision problems that require knowledge and experience.
We value people who care about their craft. People who ask better questions. People who want the part right, the setup stable, and the process understood.
Our philosophy is simple: People are Paid to Think.
We want the ideas of the people closest to the work. If you like improving processes, solving problems, teaching others, and making parts that matter, this is the kind of shop where your experience can actually shape what comes next.
