Position Summary
Schock Boats is seeking a Service Assistant to support our marine service and parts department. This role plays a key part in maintaining workflow efficiency, accurate repair orders, effective scheduling, and professional customer communication. The ideal candidate has dealership experience, is comfortable working in Lightspeed Dealer Management Software (DMS), and understands how service, parts, and technicians work together in a high-performing service department.
This is a full-time hourly, on-site position suited for candidates with 2–5 years of experience in a marine or automotive dealership environment. Weekday schedule with occasional weekend availability based on seasonal demand, plus some weekend assistance with boat shows and other events.
Core Responsibilities
Service & Customer Support
- Act as a front-line support contact for service customers
- Assist in capturing customer concerns and translating them into clear repair orders
- Provide professional communication and service updates
Repair Orders & Scheduling
- Write, open, and maintain repair orders with accuracy and attention to detail
- Assist with service scheduling and calendar coordination
- Support technician workflow and service prioritization
Parts & Warranty Support
- Assist with parts lookup, ordering, receiving, and staging
- Support manufacturer and parts warranty documentation
- Ensure warranty records are complete and submitted accurately
Systems & Administration
- Use Lightspeed DMS to manage repair orders, parts, scheduling, and customer records
- Maintain organized service documentation and records
- Support Service Manager and service advisors with daily operations
- Assistance with events such as boat shows and open houses.
Qualifications
Required
- 2+ years of experience in a marine or automotive dealership
- Experience with:
- Lightspeed DMS
- Writing repair orders / service writing
- Scheduling and customer service
- Parts and warranty support
- Warranty processing
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Professional communication skills
Preferred
- Experience with Yamaha and/or Mercury outboard motors
- Marine dealership background
- Vocational training, technical certification, or hands-on technical training
- Familiarity with service department workflows and best practices
