Our school culture is built on strong relationships, collaboration, and trust. We emphasize project-based learning, arts integration, foundational literacy and numeracy, and whole-child development to ensure every student thrives academically, socially, and emotionally.

Position Overview

We are seeking a passionate, reflective, and student-centered Elementary Classroom Teacher to join our team for the 2026-2027 school year. The ideal candidate is committed to high expectations, joyful learning, and collaborative practice. Teachers at Gordon Parks serve as instructional leaders who design engaging learning experiences, build strong classroom communities, and work closely with colleagues to support every learner.

  • Implement project-based learning (PBL) units that connect learning to real-world problems and student voice.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet diverse academic, linguistic, and learning needs.
  • Integrate literacy and numeracy skills across content areas.

Classroom Environment & Culture

  • Establish a positive, inclusive, and structured classroom environment.
  • Foster strong relationships with students built on trust, respect, and high expectations.
  • Implement responsive classroom practices and support students’ social-emotional development.

Assessment & Data Use

  • Use formative and summative assessment data to monitor student progress.
  • Collaborate with interventionists and support staff to provide targeted academic support.
  • Reflect on instructional practices and adjust instruction to improve outcomes.

Collaboration & Professional Practice

  • Work collaboratively with paraprofessionals, interventionists, and specialists.
  • Participate actively in PLCs, professional development, and school-wide initiatives.
  • Communicate effectively with families regarding student progress and learning goals.

School Community

  • Contribute positively to the school culture and mission.
  • Support school events, exhibitions of learning, and family engagement opportunities.
  • Uphold the values and vision of Gordon Parks Elementary School.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field.
  • Valid Missouri teaching certification (or ability to obtain).
  • Experience teaching elementary students preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of effective instructional practices, classroom management, and differentiation.
  • Commitment to equity, inclusion, and serving diverse learners.
  • Ability to collaborate, reflect, and grow as part of a professional learning community.

Why Choose Gordon Parks Elementary School?
  • Collaborative & Supportive Environment: Teachers work closely with colleagues and leadership in a culture of trust and shared purpose.
  • Innovative Instruction: Engage students through project-based learning, arts integration, and authentic learning experiences.
  • Professional Growth: Ongoing professional development, coaching, and leadership opportunities.
