Location: Austin, Texas
Schedule: Hybrid — some days in office with remote flexibility
Employment Type: Full-Time
Base Salary: $150,000–$175,000, depending on experience
Bonus Opportunity: Tiered performance-based bonus in addition to base salary
Firm: Baker Law Group

About the Role

Baker Law Group is seeking an experienced Civil Litigation Associate to join our growing Texas litigation team in Austin.

This is a full-time, hybrid opportunity for an attorney with approximately 3–7 years of civil litigation experience who is ready to take meaningful ownership of cases, work directly with clients, and continue developing as a well-rounded litigator.

Our Texas practice handles a broad range of civil matters, including business disputes, real estate litigation, construction matters, contract disputes, employment-related matters, defamation claims, landlord-tenant disputes, and other general civil litigation.

The right candidate will be comfortable managing significant portions of cases independently while working closely with senior attorneys on strategy, complex matters, and professional development.

What You’ll Do

The Civil Litigation Associate will:

  • Manage civil litigation matters and substantial portions of cases from initial assessment through resolution
  • Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery, correspondence, and other legal documents
  • Conduct legal research and provide practical legal analysis
  • Manage written discovery, document production, and case investigation
  • Take and defend depositions based on experience and case needs
  • Prepare for and participate in hearings, mediations, settlement conferences, and trials
  • Communicate regularly with clients regarding case status, strategy, deadlines, and next steps
  • Evaluate legal and factual issues and help develop case strategy
  • Negotiate with opposing counsel and assist with settlement discussions
  • Coordinate with paralegals and legal support staff to keep matters organized and moving forward
  • Maintain deadlines and manage multiple active matters effectively
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys on complex litigation and case strategy
  • Develop greater independence and courtroom responsibility as experience grows
  • Contribute to the continued growth of Baker Law Group’s Texas litigation practice
Types of Matters

The attorney may work on matters involving:

  • Construction and construction-defect disputes
  • Business and commercial litigation
  • Partnership and ownership conflicts
  • Employment-related litigation
  • Defamation matters
  • Landlord-tenant and property disputes
  • Pre-litigation demands and negotiations

Experience in every area is not required. We are looking for a strong civil litigation foundation, intellectual curiosity, and the ability to learn unfamiliar subject matter quickly.

What We’re Looking For

Strong candidates will have:

  • Approximately 3–7 years of civil litigation experience
  • Strong legal writing, research, and analytical skills
  • Experience drafting substantive pleadings, motions, and discovery
  • Experience managing litigation deadlines and case responsibilities
  • Exposure to depositions, hearings, mediations, and trial preparation
  • The ability to communicate confidently and professionally with clients
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Sound judgment and willingness to seek input when appropriate
  • The ability to balance multiple matters and competing priorities
  • A practical, collaborative, and low-ego working style
  • Interest in developing greater case ownership and courtroom responsibility
  • Desire to contribute to the growth of a developing Texas practice

Deposition and courtroom experience are strongly valued, but we will consider candidates whose overall litigation background demonstrates strong potential for continued growth.

Compensation and Benefits

The position offers a base salary of $150,000–$175,000, depending on experience and qualifications.

In addition to base salary, Baker Law Group offers a tiered performance-based bonus opportunity.

Benefits include:

  • Medical insurance
  • Vision insurance
  • 401(k)
  • Paid time off
  • Hybrid work flexibility
  • Performance-based bonus opportunities
Why Join Baker Law Group?

Baker Law Group is continuing to expand its Texas presence, creating opportunities for attorneys who want more responsibility and the ability to grow alongside the practice.

This position offers meaningful case ownership, direct client contact, courtroom exposure, access to experienced litigators, hybrid flexibility, competitive compensation, and a clear opportunity to develop toward senior-level responsibility.
