The Godfrey Miller Historic Home and Fellowship Center

Executive Director Job Description

(part-time position)


The mission of the Godfrey Miller Center is to create a welcoming and

inclusive space for older adults, to gather, learn, and grow.


In support of this mission, the Executive Director is expected to perform the following tasks:


1) Develop and implement an inclusive program for older adults and community members, which may include (but will not be limited to) opportunities for socializing, learning, and sharing.

2) Build relationships with participants in order to have first-hand knowledge of the needs of the participants. Be a visible presence at the center.

3) Develop and implement a marketing and public relations plan for Godfrey Miller Historic Home and Fellowship Center (hereafter GMFC) using traditional and non-traditional avenues of advertisement.

4) Research and write grants, to raise funds for programs from community charitable organizations, churches, and individuals.

5) Develop and propose a yearly budget, which will meet the administrative, programming, and day-to-day upkeep of GMFC.

6) Manage all aspects of selection and supervision of employees and volunteers, ensuring they are creating a welcoming space for all, and following policies and procedures.

7) Supervise and maximize the use of the Woltz Pavilion and the GMFC by members of the community.

8.) Serve as a liaison with community organizations, civic groups, congregations, local government agencies, and other community organizations providing services and programs for older adults.

9) Implement the policies adopted by the Board of Directors of GMFC.

10) Manage the contracts, facilities, and equipment of GMFC and notify Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church of the needs of the physical plant.

11) Serve as a liaison to the staff of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, by attending a monthly parish staff meeting and listing GMFC’s programs and events in the congregation’s newsletter and weekly bulletin. The Executive Director will provide an annual, written report to the congregation of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church.


Qualifications and Requirements


Education/Experience:

Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of the latter.

Must have experience with program management, including budgeting, grant writing, setting and meeting goals, organization and board development, fundraising, and public relations.

Must have working knowledge and experience with computers and Microsoft Office suite
