Job description

Coordinates the siting, environmental and regulatory activities of multiple concurrent transmission projects. Uses Geographic Information Systems as a tool for alterative analysis, graphics development, and environmental reviews. Identifies regulatory requirements, obtains regulatory permits and develops strategies to obtain regulatory approvals. Coordinates with engineers, designers, land agents, environmental & regulatory coordinators, technicians, construction and maintenance inspectors and other personnel on specific assignments. Manages professional service contracts. Acts as primary project liaison to environmental regulatory agencies and organizations. Supports corporate initiatives to address legislative and regulatory changes to environmental laws. Supervises and trains technicians, interns, Geographic Information Systems analysis, and environmental Specialist I positions as appropriate.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Bachelors Degree in Urban or Regional Planning, Landscape Architecture, Environmental Science, Geography, or related fields.

Experience: Six (6) to ten (10) years in environmental planning, design and regulatory compliance in the utility industry.

Equivalent Experience: Eight (8) to twelve (12) years of related experience in environmental planning, design and regulatory compliance. A masters degree in an applicable field will replace the need for four (4) years of experience.

Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations: N/A

Specialized Skills: Detailed knowledge of applicable regulatory programs and a broad knowledge of both principles and practices relating to applicable regulatory programs. Working knowledge of environmental laws and planning criteria; regulatory policy analysis; research and documentation; inventory and analysis mapping (including use of GIS and "route planning software"), contract administration; report and presentation graphics; field investigations; vegetation management; erosion control; report organization and management; good verbal communication and presentation skills.
