Position Summary

GeoSurfaces Southeast is seeking a dependable and safety-focused CDL Driver to join our team in Mooresville, North Carolina.

This position is responsible for safely transporting equipment and materials to and from regional job sites while ensuring compliance with all applicable safety regulations, Department of Transportation requirements, and company transportation procedures.

This is a full-time position that typically works Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend work as needed.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Transport equipment and materials safely to and from regional job sites.
• Assist with loading and unloading materials and equipment as needed.
• Follow proper loading protocols, including using chains and binders to secure cargo and rechecking load stability throughout each trip.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, including inspections of brakes, steering, lights, mirrors, and other safety equipment.
• Inspect trailers before and after loading, including air lines and jack positions.
• Visit weigh stations as required to ensure loads comply with state safety regulations and make adjustments when necessary.
• Comply with all traffic regulations, Department of Transportation requirements, and company transportation policies.
• Exercise caution when operating vehicles in hazardous driving conditions.
• Report unsafe vehicle conditions, road conditions, and other safety concerns to supervisors.
• Use GPS and communication tools to remain informed of route conditions.
• Notify supervisors of delays, route changes, or other transportation issues.
• Maintain accurate driver logs and required documentation in compliance with Department of Transportation regulations.

Qualifications and Experience

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid Commercial Driver’s License required.
• Minimum of one year of CDL driving experience required.
• Two or more years of CDL driving experience preferred.
• Air-brake endorsement preferred.
• Experience transporting equipment and materials to construction or regional job sites preferred.
• Knowledge of commercial vehicle inspections and cargo-securement practices.
• Ability to safely load, unload, and secure equipment and materials.

Technical Skills and Core Competencies

• Safe commercial-vehicle operation.
• Cargo loading, securement, and stability inspection.
• Pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
• Familiarity with chains, binders, trailers, air lines, and jack systems.
• Knowledge of Department of Transportation regulations and documentation requirements.
• GPS navigation and route-management skills.
• Strong safety awareness and sound judgment.
• Dependability and attention to detail.
• Effective communication and time-management skills.
• Ability to work independently and respond appropriately to changing road and weather conditions.

• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check.
• Must be able to work Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend work as needed.
• Must be comfortable traveling to regional job sites.
• Must be able to work outdoors and operate commercial vehicles in varying weather and road conditions.

Work Environment

This position involves operating commercial vehicles and working at construction sites, warehouses, and other regional locations. Drivers must be comfortable working outdoors, traveling between job sites, and operating in varying weather and driving conditions.
