Senior Database Administrator (DBA)

Gejits Infotech Inc. is seeking an experienced Database Administrator (DBA) to support our Direct State Government Client. We are looking for a senior-level DBA with expertise in SQL Server and Oracle administration, database design, performance tuning, and enterprise database support.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 8+ years of database administration experience.
• Expert knowledge of SQL Server 2012 and above.
• Strong Oracle 10g and above administration experience.
• Experience with database design, schema development, and optimization.
• Strong database performance monitoring and tuning experience.
• Experience conducting SQL code reviews.
• Experience creating and maintaining database administration documentation and procedures.
• Strong knowledge of relational database design principles.
• Ability to independently troubleshoot and resolve complex production database issues.
• Experience supporting enterprise-level database environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Azure SQL experience.
• AWS database services and tools.
• Experience with cloud database migration, modernization, or optimization.
• Experience with high-availability and disaster-recovery solutions.
• Experience working in state government or other enterprise environments.
• Experience with database automation and monitoring tools.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily database administration and operational support.
• Design, implement, maintain, and optimize database structures.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and tune database performance.
• Design and optimize database schemas to meet application requirements.
• Perform SQL code reviews and implement database best practices.
• Support application enhancements, upgrades, migrations, and modernization initiatives.
• Develop and maintain database administration standards, procedures, and documentation.
• Troubleshoot and resolve enterprise production database issues.
• Implement and maintain database backup, recovery, security, and availability strategies.
• Monitor database health, capacity, availability, and performance.
• Assist with database upgrades, patching, migrations, and environment refreshes.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior team members.
• Collaborate with developers, project managers, business analysts, and data analysts to deliver scalable database solutions.
• Ensure compliance with departmental, organizational, and security standards.
