Description
The Gateway Region YMCA is one of the leading nonprofit charitable organizations in the St. Louis metropolitan region, with a focus on nurturing the potential of every child and teen, improving health and well-being, and supporting and serving our neighbors. We do that by being the center of communities, serving more than 260,000 individuals annually through 25 traditional Y facilities located in St. Louis City, eight Missouri counties and six Illinois counties, as well as YMCA Trout Lodge and YMCA Camp Lakewood, the YMCA Community Development Branch, and our Washington University Campus Y Branch.   • Provides overall coordination of facility maintenance, including planning and developing preventative maintenance.
  • Ensures the proper operation of all mechanical systems.
  • Completes repair work and projects in a timely manner. Oversees all contractors that work in the facility and grounds. May request and review bids, and recommend selection of contractors.
  • Works with outside agencies such as fire, health, building depts., etc. to ensure compliance with all local, state and federal regulations related to facilities and grounds.
  • Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs assigned staff and volunteers. Reviews and evaluates performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions.
  • Advises management on maintenance issues and projects as requested.
  • Ensures that assigned vehicles (and other equipment) are maintained and operated in accordance with the policies and procedures of the YMCA.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Requirements
  • Technical degree from an accredited trade school, preferred or equivalent experience. Pool Chemistry Certification & EPA Certification.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in technical capacity, maintenance and housekeeping is desired.
  • Must be familiar with and/or be able to learn how to make repairs to facilities, grounds and equipment.
  • Must have valid driver's license.
  • Special skills, Licenses, Certifications or Equipment: CPO or POL, HVAC certification required
