Role Description The Optician role is a full-time, on-site position based in Los Angeles, CA. The Optician will assist clients with frame selection, lens options, and fitting, ensuring that each client receives eyewear tailored to their prescription, lifestyle, and aesthetic preferences. Daily responsibilities include interpreting prescriptions, taking accurate measurements, adjusting and repairing frames. The role also involves providing attentive customer service, educating clients about lens technologies and coatings, processing orders, and maintaining accurate records and inventory. The Optician will help keep the optical space organized, support sales goals, and contribute to a welcoming and professional environment.

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of optics and basic optometry principles, with the ability to interpret prescriptions and recommend appropriate lens solutions.
  • Proven customer service and customer satisfaction skills, with a focus on clear communication, active listening, and client education.
  • Ability to perform precise fittings, adjustments, and minor repairs on frames and lenses, ensuring comfort and visual accuracy.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy when taking measurements, entering data, and processing orders and insurance information.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced retail or clinical environment, with strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Previous experience as an optician or in an optical setting preferred; certification or licensure as an optician in California is a plus.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional training or coursework in optics or optometry is beneficial. ABO, RSLD preferred.
