Job description

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Security System Technician I to join our growing team. This entry-level position is ideal for individuals eager to begin a career in the security industry and develop expertise in the installation, maintenance, and repair of various security systems. Under direct supervision, the Security System Technician I will assist senior technicians with a wide range of tasks, gaining hands-on experience and foundational knowledge.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist senior technicians with the installation of security system components, including but not limited to cameras, access control devices, alarm panels, wiring, and conduit.

  • Learn to interpret blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams to ensure accurate system placement and connectivity.
  • Perform basic wiring, termination, and testing of cables.

  • Assist with troubleshooting and diagnosing simple system malfunctions.

  • Learn to configure and program basic security system settings under guidance.

  • Conduct routine preventative maintenance tasks, such as cleaning equipment and checking connections.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, including time spent, materials used, and system configurations.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.

  • Provide excellent customer service and maintain a professional demeanor.

  • Continuously learn and stay updated on new security technologies and industry best practices.

Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent and technical school certification or relevant coursework in electronics, low-voltage systems, or a related field are a plus.

  • Basic understanding of electronics and electrical principles.

  • Familiarity with common hand and power tools.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow instructions precisely.

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

  • Physical ability to lift and carry equipment, climb ladders, and work in various environments (e.g., attics, crawl spaces).
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation (may be required for some roles).

  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.

  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with network concepts.

Preferred (but not required) Skills:

  • Prior experience with low-voltage wiring.
