As the province's largest energy provider with more than 100 years of knowledge and experience, we proudly deliver renewable energy, natural gas, electricity and propane to 1.3 million customers.ย

We're actively seeking new talent to join our mission of delivering a stronger energy future in B.C. As one of BC's Top Employers with a diverse team of over 2,700 employees, we are committed to a safe and inclusive culture where each of us can connect, belong, and grow. Join us, and together, let's shape a brighter future for B.C.

Position Overview

Your attention to detail and strong organizational skills are your superpowers as you bring visions to life. You thrive in a collaborative environment, working seamlessly with internal teams and external partners to create memorable and impactful events that drive our business forward.

As an events specialist you'll provide leadership as you effectively plan, coordinate, execute, and evaluate corporate events to support marketing strategy, programs, and the FortisBC brand. Reporting to the events manager, this position focuses on collaborating with key stakeholder and cross functional teams to develop event requirements including communication plans, budgets, and activities based on business needs.

So, if you're ready to roll up your sleeves and make a real impact, join us in transforming B.C.'s energy future.

In this role, you will:
  • Take the lead on planning, coordinating, and executing corporate events, including collaborating with various internal and external stakeholders, managing budgets, and aligning with our corporate branding. Additionally, you'll participate in source funding activities and ensuring cost efficiency for events.
  • Support the development and training of staff to effectively represent FortisBC at a variety of community events, including, trade shows, sporting events, and festivals.
  • Ensure key messages are delivered for marketing campaigns and distribute promotional materials and publications, while meeting company standards.
  • Travel throughout B.C. to oversee events and attend to any scheduling and staffing issues. You'll ensure all staff are aware of their responsibilities in safety and environmental stewardship.
What it takes:
  • A diploma in public relations, marketing, or a related discipline from a recognized program, plus a minimum of three years of recent and related experience in planning, coordinating, and executing corporate events.
  • A valid B.C. drivers license is required.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision, complemented by strong personal initiative and project management skills.
  • Exceptional communication and leadership skills to engage with internal and external stakeholders as you provide event support and recommendations.

In this role, you will have the option to participate in a flexible work program, enabling you to work from an approved flex location in British Columbia up to 85 days a year (equivalent to approximately two days a week), subject to business or operational needs.

Our engaging workplace offers a wide range of challenging opportunities, while being safe, inclusive, and diverse. We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, while supporting life-long career development. We also encourage volunteerism and nourish the need to give back to your community.
