Account Executive - Sell Your Books Pro (USA)

World of Books is hiring its first dedicated US sales hire for Sell Your Books Pro (SYB Pro) - our B2B product helping thrift stores, Goodwills, and Friends of Libraries turn surplus books into revenue.
This is a genuinely exciting first-in-territory role. The UK team has already started winning customers in the US remotely - now we're putting someone on the ground to accelerate that growth, build the pipeline, close new business, and help shape how we scale SYB Pro across the US market. You'll own the full sales cycle from prospecting through to close and onboarding, working closely with our UK-based Head of New Business.
This role will suit someone who is excited by a blank canvas, motivated by growth, and confident in creating momentum without waiting for a fully built playbook.
What you'll be doing
• Own outbound lead generation, prioritizing the Midwest with national travel to high-value prospects
• Build your own pipeline through calls, outreach, field visits, events, and referrals
• Become a product expert - demoing SYB Pro to store managers, volunteers, and senior leaders alike
• Manage opportunities through the full funnel, from first conversation to signed customer
• Use HubSpot, Tableau, and AI tools to track performance and improve efficiency
• Influence Marketing, Product, and Customer Success to shape how we grow in the US
What you'll bring
• A strong track record in new business sales, ideally as an Account Executive or similar
• Evidence of exceeding sales targets and closing retained, high-quality revenue
• The ability to prospect from cold and build a pipeline independently
• Strong communication skills, with the confidence to sell to different stakeholder groups
• Good CRM discipline, ideally using HubSpot or a similar platform
• The confidence to operate in ambiguity and build structure in a new market
• To be based within commutable distance of Chicago, and willing to travel nationally ~50% of the time
Bonus points if you've sold SaaS or tech-enabled products with real-world operations, sold to non-profit organizations, or worked in the used-book or circular-economy sectors.
