Role Description The Licensed Sprinkler Fitter is a full-time, on-site role based in the Springfield, Massachusetts Metropolitan Area. This role is responsible for installing, assembling, and testing fire sprinkler systems, including layout of piping, hangers, valves, and related components according to engineered plans and applicable codes. Day-to-day tasks include measuring and cutting pipe, operating hand tools and equipment, reading blueprints, coordinating with site supervisors, and verifying that installations meet safety and performance standards. The Sprinkler Fitter will also perform system inspections, troubleshoot issues, complete repairs, and document work performed. The role requires consistent adherence to FireTek Inc.’s safety policies and participation in job site safety meetings and training.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience working with sprinkler systems and sprinklers, including installation, repair, and testing.
  • Proficiency in using hand tools and related equipment safely and effectively in a construction or mechanical setting.
  • Knowledge of pipe fitting, cutting, threading, and joining methods for fire protection piping systems.
  • Understanding of life safety and fire protection principles, including relevant codes and standards (e.g., NFPA).
  • Valid sprinkler fitter license or equivalent state-required certification for fire sprinkler installation.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and job specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and commitment to safe work practices.
  • Physical ability to work at heights, in varied environmental conditions, and lift materials and equipment as required.
  • Reliable transportation to job sites within the Springfield, Massachusetts Metropolitan Area.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training in fire protection or plumbing trades is beneficial.
