Filoli is looking for a Senior Accounting Manager to lead our accounting operations. Reporting to the Controller, you won’t just be managing a ledger—you’ll be a strategic partner to our program directors, a mentor to a talented team of three, and a champion for financial clarity in a dynamic non-profit setting.

Location:  Filoli Historic House & Garden, Woodside, CA

Position Type:  Full-time, Year-round, Salaried, Benefit Eligible

Schedule:  Typically Monday-Friday, 9:00am to 5:30pm (Flexibility, seasonal overtime and off hours commitment required)

Salary Range:  $149,000 to $163,000 (Depending upon candidate experience)

Reports to:  Controller

The Impact You’ll Make

• Operational Excellence: Own the day-to-day general ledger, month-end close, and financial reporting to ensure we are always audit-ready and GAAP-compliant.

• Collaborative Budgeting: Partner with department leaders to turn complex data into actionable budgets and forecasts using modern FP&A tools.

• Empowering Leadership: Lead, coach, and inspire our small but mighty team (AP Financial Analyst, AR Accountant, and Staff Accountant).

• Process Innovation: We love technology! You’ll leverage AI tools (like Claude and Gemini) and platforms like Monday.com and Pigment to streamline workflows and build a "Finance Help Center" that empowers our entire staff.

• Strategic Compliance: Manage tax filings (Form 990, sales tax) and coordinate annual audits with a focus on transparency and integrity.

Who You Are

• An Experienced Leader: You have 7+ years of accounting experience and 3+ years of supervisory experience. A Bachelor’s in Accounting or Finance is required; a CPA is the cherry on top.

• A Non-Profit Pro: You understand the nuances of multiple revenue streams and are passionate about advancing Diversity, Equity, Accessibility, and Inclusion (DEAI) within financial systems.

• Tech-Savvy & Curious: You’re an Excel wizard (complex formulas are your love language) and you’re genuinely excited about using AI and work management platforms to make work better.

• Adaptable & Composed: You thrive in a fast-paced environment and can navigate seasonal peaks (like audit or budget season) with grace and a problem-solving mindset.
