Job description
The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Chicago is searching for full-time tenure-track faculty members at the rank of assistant professor. Compensation is dependent upon qualifications. These positions are benefits eligible. The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology is home to world class mechanistic research in many fields. Situated within the Biological Sciences Division (BSD), the Department's work is enriched by a highly collaborative University environment within a compact campus centered in Chicago's Hyde Park neighborhood. Appointees will have access to state-of-the-art core facilities providing cryoEM & ET as well as other microscopy, cutting-edge next generation sequencing and genomics, flow cytometry and an endowed, world-class plant research facility. New faculty will work with outstanding colleagues and graduate students in a variety of programs at the University and at our National Lab affiliates, Argonne National Laboratory and Fermilab.
Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must have a doctoral degree or its equivalent.
We especially welcome applicants who are studying macromolecular dynamics and structure, mechanisms of molecular function, and related areas. Topics of interest are: proteins; nucleic acids and their assemblies; membrane proteins; cellular processes in proteostasis, condensates, and immunology; biomolecular design; chemical biology, and computational analysis. Applicants with experience in research incorporating Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning or Quantum technologies are especially encouraged to apply.
