Job description

Role Summary

The NextGen Pastor (NGP) is the direct leader for all Student and Young Adult ministries at True Life Church. This role is responsible for developing leaders, building healthy ministry systems, and cultivating a thriving, gospel-centered culture among the next generation.

The NGP will model a pastoral heart, demonstrate a passion for outreach, and continually grow in leadership and spiritual maturity while equipping others to do the same.

General Responsibilities

  • Maintain a vibrant and growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Fully engage in the life of the church, including Sunday services and weekly rhythms.
  • Participate in staff meetings, Sunday huddles, and ministry planning gatherings.
  • Assist in planning and executing church-wide events and special initiatives.
  • Engage relationally with students, young adults, families, and volunteers throughout the week.
  • Support and contribute to a unified, healthy staff culture.

Strategic & Organizational Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Lead Pastor to advance the vision and mission of True Life Church.
  • Help cultivate and protect a culture of health, excellence, and above all unity. 
  • Contribute to overall ministry strategy and execution.
  • Collaborate with staff to strengthen and support all ministry areas.
  • Develop partnerships with local schools and Christ-centered organizations.
  • Steward ministry resources and budgets with wisdom, integrity, and generosity.
  • Provide leadership for fundraising or special projects as needed.

NextGen Ministry Leadership

  • Provide vision, direction, and oversight for Student and Young Adult ministries.
  • Recruit, train, and develop leaders and volunteers.
  • Build sustainable systems that foster growth, discipleship, and leadership development.
  • Create engaging environments that help students and young adults grow in their faith.
  • Ensure alignment of all NextGen ministries with the overall vision of the church.

Pastoral Responsibilities

  • Maintain a visible and engaged presence during weekend services.
  • Assist in leading services as requested. (prayer, announcements, hosting, etc.).
  • Preach and teach as needed throughout the year. This may include Sunday AM and special gatherings as requested. 
  • Lead groups, classes, and discipleship environments related to NextGen ministries.
  • Provide pastoral care when appropriate (hospital visits, memorials, weddings, etc.).
  • Offer care, encouragement, and support to individuals and families within the church and community.
