Position Description A fast-paced and rapidly growing boutique real estate firm is seeking a project management oriented Development Associate to support our national development practice that currently has over $850 million under development and $750M in its active pipeline. Based in our Arlington, VA headquarters, this position will support the delivery and sourcing of principal and 3rd party development projects around the country. The ideal candidate will have experience in a project management capacity at a commercial real estate development firm, general contractor, or construction management company, and be comfortable with the lifecycle of a construction project – from design, preconstruction, and permitting through field coordination and closeout. It is essential that the individual is extremely proactive, detail oriented, highly capable of managing multiple projects and project teams effectively, has exceptional technical, written, and verbal communication skills, and enjoys working in a collegial team environment.ResponsibilitiesProvide managerial oversight to a development project or a series of projectsProvide technical guidance for all aspects of project team activities (design, financing, construction, scheduling and delivery)Directly manage project teams including architects, engineers, general contractors & subcontracted consultantsDevelop project scopes, budgets, schedules, and establish prioritiesCreate and update development budgets and proformasMaintain satisfactory relationships w/ partners, tenants, brokers, contractors, subcontractors, lenders, etc.Leadership in the overall direction, administration, and completion of a projectPrepare presentations and proposals in response to requests for qualifications/proposalsReview and analyze zoning information, contract documents, financial reports, and other items as part of due diligence process, deal negotiations, and closingsQualifications2 to 5+ years of experience in project management, construction management, development, and/or related field, including direct involvement in delivering projects through the construction processInterest in an entrepreneurial and growing business environmentBachelor’s degree in construction management, finance, real estate and/or related fieldTechnical knowledge of principles of architecture, engineering, construction, development, and/or financeFluency in reading construction documents, schedules, contracts, and general contractor processes Strong financial/analytical skillsCommitment to detail, efficiency, and organizationIndependent worker and team playerWillingness to travelExcellent communication skills both verbal and writtenStrong efficiency in Microsoft Excel
