A day in the life in Chandler, AZ

Your shift starts on the shop floor and at the job site with a review of blueprints, shop drawings, and structural plans. You stage materials, confirm your WPS settings, and verify your AWS D1.1 3G/4G qualifications are aligned with the day’s tasks. From there, you move seamlessly between precision fabrication and field installation—executing full-penetration welds that meet stringent structural criteria and supporting bolt-up beam alignment to keep the schedule on track.

What you’ll do

• Execute full-penetration welds in strict accordance with AWS D1.1 specifications.
• Support bolt-up beam installation, alignment, and fit-up to tolerances.
• Interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and structural plans to plan your sequence of work.
• Verify all welds meet structural integrity and safety standards through visual checks and measurements.
• Operate scissor lifts at heights up to approximately 18 feet.
• Perform mezzanine welding and installation activities roughly 9 feet off the ground.
• Maintain housekeeping and safe work practices across all work areas.
• Coordinate with your crew and supervisors to hit milestones and deadlines.

What you’ll bring

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical training a plus.
• Current AWS D1.1 certification with demonstrated proficiency in 3G and 4G positions.
• 3+ years of structural welding experience.
• Solid command of welding processes, base metals/filler materials, and safety standards.
• Ability to read and apply technical drawings and specifications.
• Sharp attention to detail and a practical approach to problem solving.
• Comfort working independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced setting.
• Proficiency in Welding Setups for Production and Blueprint Reading.
