Vehicle Upfitting Technician – Fabrication & Electrical East Baton Rouge Parish | Full-Time Evaluation Hire | $19/hr | Mon–Fri, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.

Join Express Employment Professionals, a full-service staffing and recruiting firm, to support a local specialty truck equipment company in East Baton Rouge Parish. In this hands-on role, you’ll transform bare vans and work trucks into job-ready assets by installing shelving, wiring, and utility beds with precision and care.

A day in the life

• Start your morning reviewing work orders and blueprints for each van or truck build.
• Measure, drill, and fasten metal shelving into transit vans for organized, durable storage.
• Run electrical wiring neatly and safely to power lighting, inverters, and accessories.
• Tack weld and fit components as needed; mount and secure utility beds onto work trucks.
• Wrap up by cleaning your bay, organizing tools, and double-checking every detail for quality.

Core responsibilities

• Install metal shelving systems in transit vans
• Route and connect electrical wiring for vehicle upfits
• Install utility/service bodies on work trucks
• Maintain a clean, orderly shop environment
• Deliver detail-focused craftsmanship on trucks and vans

Required skills and experience

• Own tool set: cordless drill, cordless 3/8" impact, flathead screwdriver, pliers, wire cutters, and a standard wrench set
• Ability to tack weld
• Capacity to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods

Proficiencies

• Tape measure reading and shop math
• Mechanical assembly and equipment installation
• Blueprint reading
