Job description

About

Since 1988, Exodus World Service has mobilized the Christian community across Chicagoland to welcome and befriend refugees.

Description

As a New Neighbor for Youth, you can be a friend to a refugee student adjusting to life in the US. Resettled refugee kids face unique hurdles. Often, they need to learn a new language and culture in addition to school subjects. Volunteers help with this adjustment through friendship, mentorship, and encouragement.

Details

New Neighbor for Youth volunteers visit a refugee student in their home once a week for 3 months, walking beside them as a friend in their new community. You can volunteer as an individual, family, small group, or church, and training is provided.

Volunteers should be able to regularly commute to Chicago's far northside neighborhoods (West Ridge, Rogers Park). Scheduling is flexible to your availability, and no additional language skills are required.
