Position Overview
Role: Behavior Technician (BT)
Reports to: BCBA Supervisors / Program Lead
Purpose: Assist in delivering ABA-based and direct-instruction strategies under supervision, contribute to data collection and progress monitoring, and support students aged 3-13 in achieving targeted learning and social outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Support the implementation of individualized ABA and direct-instruction plans under the supervision of a BCBA.
- Collect reliable data on target behaviors and skills; maintain accurate session notes and data sheets.
- Assist with structured, data-driven instruction in reading, writing, mathematics, and functional skills.
- Help integrate Occupational Therapy-inspired strategies to support sensory-motor development as appropriate (within BT scope and supervision).
- Monitor student safety and support positive, respectful behavior management under supervision.
- Collaborate with BCBA, teachers, therapists, and families to support consistent programming.
- Maintain a supportive, encouraging learning environment; promote student independence and generalization of skills.
- Participate in team meetings, professional development, and ongoing supervision.
Qualifications
- Required:
- Minimum high school diploma or GED; college coursework or related experience preferred.
- Knowledge of ABA principles, data collection, and behavior support strategies.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and teamwork skills.
- Demonstrated patience, adaptability, and a child-centered approach.
- Ability to pass background checks and TB screening.
- Preferred:
- Experience with Direct Instruction and/or Precision Teaching.
- Experience supporting neurodiverse learners aged 3-13.
- Familiarity with integrated therapy approaches (e.g., OT-informed strategies) and collaborative care models.
