Position Description
Salary Information:
The salary for this position is negotiated through a collective bargaining agreement. All new employees will be hired at the minimum salary in the range and will be eligible for merit increases until reaching the maximum salary in the range.

An incumbent in this class coordinates, plans, develops, supervises, and leads the operation of an Evidence Vault squad.

Minimum Qualifications/Position-Specific Conditions
Training, Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Criminal Justice, Political Science, Public Administration, or a related field.
AND
- Four years of full-time professional work experience in either police evidence or private sector warehouse storage operations.
OR
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Be a citizen/naturalized citizen or permanent resident alien without conditions on status of the United States of America by the date of the first test instrument
- Be at least 18 years old by the date of the first test instrument
- Possession of, or the ability to obtain, an appropriate Nevada driver's license.
Best Candidates Will Have
- Four years of full-time professional work experience in either police evidence or private sector warehouse and storage operations, and a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Criminal Justice, Political Science, Public Administration, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Conditions of Employment
In addition to the General Conditions of Employment, found , the following specific conditions of employment and physical conditions apply to this position.
- Personal Appearance: While on duty, and/or representing the Department, uniformed or otherwise, all Department employees will be neat and clean in their appearance in public. Employees are prohibited from attaching, affixing, or displaying objects, articles or jewelry on or through the nose, tongue, eyebrow or other exposed body part, except the ears for females, while on duty. Employees are prohibited from stretching or "gauging" their earlobes. All jewelry implants will not be exposed or visible while on duty. Tattoos or branding will not be exposed or visible while on duty and/or representing the Department. Such markings must be covered by clothing. Markings that cannot be covered by clothing will be covered using neutral-toned bandages or patches except for hands, neck, head, or face tattoos. Makeup is not permissible to cover a tattoo. Tattoos or branding anywhere on the body that promote racism/discrimination, indecency, extremist or supremacist philosophies, lawlessness, violence, or contain sexually explicit material are prohibited.
- Participate in the LVMPD Mental Wellness Program.
- Initially and periodically qualify with department-approved firearm to obtain/maintain weapons carrier status. (Carrying a firearm is optional).
- Work irregular schedules as needed.
- Be on-call, respond to phone calls, emails, texts and in person.
- Vision sufficient to read the computer screen, as well as fine print in documents.
- Hearing sufficient to hear conversations and directions in person, over the telephone, or over the radio.
- Dexterity and mobility sufficient to operate standard office and warehouse equipment; operate motorized vehicles; climb ladders and stairs.
- Agility sufficient to twist, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach forward, and reach overhead.
- Endurance sufficient to sit at personal computer terminals; to stand and move around while working indoors, outdoors or inside a walk-in refrigerator; and/or to wear a mask or other protective equipment for extended periods of time.
- Strength sufficient to lift moderately heavy evidence items, including above head level; carry and shelve evidence items up to 50 lbs.; push and pull loaded carts and flatbeds.
Environmental conditions:
Office and warehouse environment; exposure to and work in confined spaces, heights on ladders, extreme cold arising from working inside walk-in refrigerators, extreme heat, dust arising from working in a warehouse, and inclement weather conditions if working outdoors; unpleasant odors arising from biological decomposition, drugs and drug paraphernalia, and normal biological conditions; noise found in the evidence warehouse; urban and rural traffic and road conditions while transporting evidence; demanding conditions while handling evidence items like human tissues and fluids, weapons, and other disturbing evidence allegedly used to commit violent crimes; elevated occupational risks and discomforts which require extra safety precautions be taken.

Additional Selection Processes
If you successfully complete the above selection process, you will undergo a thorough background investigation, including a polygraph exam. A polygraph examination can be stressful and may affect existing medical or psychological conditions or ongoing treatment. LAS VEGAS METROPOLITAN POLICE DEPARTMENT
CIVILIAN EMPLOYEE BENEFITS
Benefits are effective July 1, 2023, are based
upon an 80 hour pay period in a paid status, and are subject to change.
COMPENSATION
ASSIGNMENT DIFFERENTIAL: Specific assignments may qualify for assignment differential pay.
EDUCATION INCENTIVE: Civilian employees possessing an Associate, Bachelor, or Master Degree from an accredited college or university will receive a designated amount per pay period based on degree.
OVERTIME PAY / COMPENSATORY TIME: Employees who work overtime have the option of being paid at 1-1/2 times their hourly rate or receiving 1-1/2 hours of compensatory time. Compensatory time may not accumulate beyond 60 hours.
SHIFT DIFFERENTIAL: Employees will receive an additional 4% shift pay for working a swing shift or a graveyard shift. After completing initial probation, employees working a graveyard shift encompassing the hours of midnight to 5:00 a.m. will receive an additional 2% shift pay.
LANGUAGE PAY: Qualified employees may receive Language Pay each pay period.
UNIFORMS: The Department furnishes, maintains, and cleans all uniforms for those personnel required to wear uniforms, with the exception of footgear.
TAXES:
State/City - Nevada has no state tax or city income tax.
Social Security - Employees en
