Key Responsibilities

As a Mental Health Counselor, your daily responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting comprehensive assessments and thorough screenings to evaluate clients’ mental health status and identify specific obstacles.
  • Creating and implementing individualized treatment plans that cater to each client's unique goals and challenges.
  • Facilitating engaging individual and group therapy sessions, using evidence-based methods such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).
  • Maintaining close collaboration with fellow treatment team members, including psychiatrists, social workers, and school staff, to create an integrated support system for clients.
  • Providing educational resources and emotional support to families, ensuring they understand their child’s treatment and actively participate in the recovery process.
  • Documenting all client interactions and updates accurately to meet regulatory and ethical obligations, thereby maintaining the integrity of our clinical records.
Patient Population / Client Focus

This role focuses on supporting a diverse array of clients, primarily school-aged children dealing with various mental health challenges, including anxiety, depression, behavioral issues, and trauma-related disorders. Your expertise and compassionate approach will empower these individuals to cope better and achieve their full potential in academic and social settings.

Qualifications
  • A current and valid license as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Doctor of Psychology (PsyD).
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field is required, with a preference for candidates possessing advanced degrees.
  • A solid understanding of various mental health disorders and an enthusiasm for employing evidence-based practices in therapy.
Preferred Experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in mental health counseling, especially in school settings.
  • Proven track record of working with children and adolescents, demonstrating cultural competence and sensitivity to diverse backgrounds.
  • Experience with trauma-informed care approaches and skills in crisis intervention.
