Job Title: Equity Research Associate - Oncology

Salary Range: $110,000-$170,000
Role SummaryThe candidate will join a growing oncology research team focused on cancer therapeutics and emerging treatment modalities. The role centers on publicly traded oncology biotechnology companies, with awareness of relevant private companies and broader competitive, scientific, and strategic developments. Responsibilities include evaluating scientific, clinical, commercial, and financial factors that influence investment outcomes, while collaborating with physicians, scientists, management teams, and institutional investors.
Responsibilities- Analyze preclinical, translational, and clinical oncology datasets
- Build and maintain financial models and valuation frameworks
- Support investment recommendations and research reports
- Monitor clinical trials, publications, patents, regulatory updates, and competitive landscapes
- Track earnings, conferences, data presentations, and strategic developments across biotech and pharmaceutical companies
- Attend scientific and medical conferences
- Engage with physicians, key opinion leaders, management teams, and industry experts
- Maintain accurate records and follow-ups from company and investor interactions
- Respond quickly to clinical, regulatory, scientific, and corporate developments
QualificationsWe seek candidates with meaningful corporate or industry experience who understand how organizations operate and execute in real-world environments. Purely academic backgrounds without corporate exposure are unlikely to be a fit.
Relevant experience may include:
- Biotechnology or pharmaceutical equity research
- Buyside roles primarily focused on investing in biotechnology or pharmaceutical stocks at recognized institutions, hedge funds or VCs
- Healthcare/life sciences consulting
- Biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry roles, including business development, corporate strategy, or experience contributing to commercial corporate initiatives
- Biotechnology or pharmaceutical investment banking
Preferred qualifications include:
- Strong understanding of oncology, drug development, and clinical trial design, with the ability to evaluate scientific and medical literature
- Strong analytical, quantitative, and financial modeling skills, including experience working with complex datasets
- Proficiency in Excel; familiarity with statistics, Python, or other analytical tools is a plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
