If you are currently enrolled as a university student-whether you are a Junior, Senior, or pursuing a master's degree-in an engineering discipline such as Petroleum, Energy, Mechanical, or Industrial you are strongly encouraged to apply for the Ensign Drilling Field Operations Group Internship. How to Apply
To be considered for the Ensign Drilling Field Operations Internship, all applicants are required to submit a resume in PDF format that clearly outlines their interest in working at Ensign Drilling. Eligibility Requirements
  • Applicants must be at least 18 years of age or older.
  • Applicants are responsible for providing their own transportation as they travel to the field.
  • Candidates must have completed at least their sophomore year of study by the start of the 2026 internship program.

Expected Responsibilities
  • Work under a semi-rotational schedule to gain exposure to various phases of oil well drilling operations.
  • Participate in rig safety protocols and procedures to ensure a secure working environment.
  • Engage in rig operations, including tasks typically performed by a Floorhand.
  • Collaborate with the Performance Drilling Group to optimize drilling processes.
  • Assist the Maintenance Group with equipment upkeep and repairs.
  • Support the Drilling Solutions Engineering team in implementing technical solutions.

Required Knowledge and Skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety practices.
  • Strong dexterity for handling equipment and tools.
  • Mechanical aptitude, including the ability to build and repair equipment.
  • Effective teamwork and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions accurately.
  • Keen attention to detail in all tasks.
  • Problem-solving abilities to address operational challenges.
  • Adaptability to changing work environments and demands.

Experience
  • Previous experience with technical work and procedural tasks.
  • Familiarity with systems and manual labor in physically demanding roles.
  • Any prior experience in the oil industry is considered an asset.
