Teacher (Therapeutic Residential School)

Position Summary
EmotiCare Behavioral Health is seeking a compassionate, creative, and dedicated Teacher to join our therapeutic residential program serving adolescent girls ages 12-17. Our residential campus combines behavioral health treatment with an accredited educational program, allowing students to continue their education while receiving comprehensive mental health services.
The Teacher is responsible for delivering engaging academic instruction, supporting individualized educational goals, maintaining a positive classroom environment, and collaborating closely with behavioral health professionals to promote student success. Experience working with at-risk youth, trauma-informed educational practices, or special education is highly desirable.

Essential Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver standards-based instruction for middle and high school students.
- Develop and implement individualized instructional strategies to meet diverse learning needs.
- Create a structured, safe, and engaging classroom environment that promotes academic achievement and positive behavior.
- Monitor student progress and maintain accurate academic records.
- Participate in the development and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) when applicable.
- Collaborate with therapists, behavioral health staff, residential staff, and families to support each student's educational and treatment goals.
- Utilize trauma-informed and strength-based teaching practices.
- Maintain classroom management using positive behavioral interventions and reinforcement strategies.
- Administer assessments and evaluate student learning outcomes.
- Communicate regularly with parents, guardians, school districts, and other educational partners as appropriate.
- Ensure compliance with Arizona Department of Education requirements, educational standards, and agency policies.
- Participate in staff meetings, multidisciplinary treatment team meetings, and ongoing professional development.
- Assist students in developing life skills, self-confidence, and educational independence.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's Degree in Education or closely related field.
- Valid Arizona Teaching Certificate or ability to obtain appropriate certification.
- Ability to pass all required background checks and obtain a Level One Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card.
- Strong classroom management and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary treatment team.
- Commitment to trauma-informed, youth-centered educational practices.
Preferred
- Arizona Special Education Certification.
- Experience teaching middle school and/or high school students.
- Experience working with students experiencing emotional, behavioral, or mental health challenges.
- Experience working in alternative education, residential treatment, juvenile justice, or therapeutic school settings.
- Knowledge of IEP development and implementation.
- Familiarity with Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), trauma-informed care, restorative practices, or social-emotional learning.

- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with clinical and residential teams.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to supervise students in classroom and campus environments.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to respond appropriately during emergencies.
