Job description

Title: Media Technician, Full-time (37.5 hrs./wk.)

Reports to: Principal

Location: St. Francis Xavier Catholic School | Fort Myers, FL

Classification: Hourly/Non-exempt

Overview

The Media Technician is responsible for maintaining the school's library to support literacy enrichment, emergent readers, and provide instructional literary materials to classroom teachers.

Job Responsibilities

  • Maintain and cultivate the school collection of library books.
  • Maintain and provide a Media Center environment that is conducive to readers, literary learning, and student literacy enrichment.
  • Select and acquire materials to implement the curriculum and to meet the individual interest, ability and maturity levels of students.
  • Familiarize students, Faculty and Staff and with the media collection and with new materials.
  • Assist the principal in ensuring that instructional materials are used to provide learning experiences compatible with the educational needs of students.
  • Facilitate flexibility a Media Center schedule that is conducive to student classes and provides sufficient time to meet student needs and classroom teacher schedules.
  • Collaborate with the Faculty and Staff in a shared space to facilitate meetings, cross-curricular activities, and flexible classroom time for teachers.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience working with children preferred
  • Proficient with educational technology including Word, Excel, and Office.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • The ability to multitask and perform their duties with flexibility and cohesive professional and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work independently and part of a collaborative team.
  • Must pass Level II background screening.
