Tutor/Educators for Unique Learning Environment Are you interested in working with children who have special needs. At Achievement Centers, our mission is to provide behavioral and educational services that meet the individual needs of our clients and that result in their ability to develop meaningful relationships and achieve the highest level of independence possible in their home and community settings. Achievement Centers is looking for Tutors to work one-on-one with children diagnosed with autism and other developmental disabilities and work under the direction of our Master Tutors. We also work with parents and caregivers, in order to provide them with strategies to support their children and promote on-going progress.
We only hire tutors who see themselves as "learning detectives", coaches and mentors rather than "homework helpers" or "test prep specialists." Service hours are typically between the hours of Monday through Friday,3 p.m. and 8 p.m., Saturday/Sunday noon to 5 pm during the school year. Summer hours are 10 AM to 7 PM, Monday through Friday, Saturday/Sunday noon to 5 PM
Schedules will vary on a case by case basis. Tutor's responsibilities: Use a diagnostic/developmental template to organize and implement each student's tutoring program. Employ the principles of learning drawn from both cognitive and constructivist thinking Carry out the individualized lessons and behavior plans as directed by the Master Tutor and Behavioral Specialist.
Work 1:1 with the student in the center. Run discrete trials and collect empirical data to track student's progress. Model appropriate play skills in both structured and unstructured play settings.
Create a fun and supportive learning environment for children with special needs Complete required paperwork including, but not limited to, daily notes and behavior tracking sheets. Attend and participate in staff meetings and training workshops. Organize and create teaching materials.
Work collaboratively with teammates, parents, the Behavior Consultant and other professionals. Education: Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in special education; Masters preferred. Experience: Minimum of 6 months experience working with students with autism or other special needs Compensation $16-$18 an hour.
