Role Description The After-school Group Leader is a part-time, on-site role based in Brooklyn, NY. This role is responsible for leading after-school groups of young people, facilitating engaging and age-appropriate activities, and creating a supportive, inclusive environment. Day-to-day tasks include planning and implementing educational and enrichment activities, supervising participants to ensure safety, and fostering positive relationships among youth. The Group Leader will communicate regularly with program staff, support attendance and behavior expectations, and help maintain organized program materials and spaces. The role also involves modeling EBI’s values, encouraging youth leadership, and contributing feedback to improve programming.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or adolescents in educational, youth development, or community-based settings.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with young people and families.
• Ability to plan and facilitate group activities that are engaging, structured, and aligned with program goals.
• Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive practices.
• Organizational and time-management skills to manage multiple tasks in a busy after-school environment.
• Ability to maintain professional boundaries, ensure participant safety, and respond calmly to challenging situations.
• Availability to work consistent after-school hours on-site in Brooklyn, NY.
• Preferred: Experience in youth leadership development, social justice education, or community organizing.
• Preferred: High school diploma or GED required; some college coursework in education, social work, or related fields is a plus.
