Mission Context

LV8D Solutions supports national security space and intelligence customers delivering next-generation sensing and exploitation capabilities.TheSoftware Systems Engineer supports averydynamic andinnovative spaceprogram with the design, development, integration, test, deployment, and sustainment of software systems for advanced space vehicle programs.

Position Overview

LV8D Solutions is seeking a Software Systems Engineer toserve as a keytechnicalcontributor across the system lifecycle, ensuring software solutions meet mission requirements, interface seamlessly withflight andground systems, andcomply withprogrammatic, security, safety, and qualitystandards. This rolecollaborates withsoftwaredevelopers, systemsengineers, mission operations personnel, cybersecurity specialists, andprogram leadership to deliver reliable, mission-criticalcapabilities that support spacecraft operations and missionsuccess.

KeyResponsibilities
  • Analyzes stakeholder, mission,andsystem requirements andtranslate themintosoftware and interface requirements.
  • Develops and maintains software architecture products, Interface Control Documents (ICDs), and system engineering artifacts.
  • Supportssoftware requirements decomposition,allocation,verification,andvalidationactivitiesthroughout thedevelopment lifecycle.
  • Collaborateswithflightsoftware,groundsoftware, cybersecurity,andhardwareengineeringteamstoensureend-to-endsystemintegration.
  • Participates in system design reviews, software technical reviews, and program milestone events including System Requirements Review (SRR), Preliminary Design Review (PDR), Critical Design Review (CDR), Test Readiness Review (TRR), and Operational Readiness Review (ORR).
  • Developsandmaintainrequirementstraceabilitybetweenmissionobjectives,systemrequirements,software specifications,and verificationactivities.
  • Supports software integration, test planning, execution, anomaly resolution, and operational readiness activities.
  • Performs systemmodeling, performance analysis, andtrade studies to evaluate technical solutions and support engineering decisions.
  • Coordinatessoftwareconfigurationmanagement,changecontrol, andreleaseactivities.
  • Assistsinriskidentification,mitigationplanning,andtechnicalissueresolution.
  • Support mission operations, anomaly investigations,software upgrades, andpost-launch sustainment activities as required.
  • Ensure compliance withapplicable aerospace, cybersecurity,quality assurance, and mission assurance standards.
RequiredQualifications
  • Bachelor'sdegreeinSystemsEngineering,SoftwareEngineering,ComputerScience, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technicaldiscipline.
  • 9+yearsofexperiencesupportingsoftwareengineering,systemsengineering, or software integration activities.
  • Experiencewiththesystemsengineeringlifecycle,includingrequirementsdevelopment,design,integration,test,verification,andvalidation.
  • Knowledgeofsoftware development methodologies includingAgile,DevSecOps, and traditional waterfall approaches.
  • Experience supportingcomplexintegrated systemsinaerospace, defense,intelligence, or space environments.
  • Strongwrittenandverbalcommunicationskillswiththeabilitytopresenttechnicalinformation todiverse audiences.
  • Abilitytoworkeffectivelyinamultidisciplinaryengineeringenvironment.
PreferredQualifications
  • Experiencesupportingspacecraft,satellite,launchvehicle,orgroundcontrolsystems.
  • Knowledgeofflightsoftwarearchitecturesandcommand-and-controlsystems.
  • ExperiencewithModel-basedSystems Engineering(MBSE)andSysML.
  • Familiaritywithspacecommunicationprotocols,Telemetry,Tracking,andCommand (TT&C) systems.
  • Experiencewithsoftwareintegrationlaboratories,hardware-in-the-looptesting, and mission simulations.
  • Understandingofcybersecurityrequirementsforspacesystems.
  • Familiarity with digitalengineering principles and modern software factoryenvironments.

  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Active Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance
  • Active Counterintelligence (CI) or Full Scope (FS) Polygraph
Work Environment
  • On-site work in a government or contractor facility
  • Occasional travel (up to 10%)
