Auto Transport Driver (CDL) – Job Description

Join our dynamic transportation team as an Auto Transport Driver (CDL) and take charge of safely loading, securing, transporting, and delivering vehicles across various locations with precision and professionalism. This role offers an exciting opportunity to utilize your commercial driving experience, vehicle-hauling knowledge, mechanical skills, and customer service abilities to ensure smooth and secure vehicle transportation.

As a vital part of our logistics operation, you’ll operate commercial vehicles, safely load and unload automobiles, comply with DOT and company safety requirements, communicate with dispatch, and provide professional service to customers, dealerships, and team members. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-focused, flexible, and comfortable working in a fast-paced transportation environment where schedules may change with short notice.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Safely operate commercial motor vehicles with a valid CDL to transport automobiles between dealerships, storage facilities, auctions, and customer locations.
• Safely load, secure, transport, unload, and deliver vehicles while following company procedures and applicable safety regulations.
• Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the truck, trailer, and transported vehicles.
• Properly secure vehicles using appropriate tie-downs, straps, chains, and other required equipment.
• Inspect vehicles for existing damage before loading and document vehicle condition as required.
• Navigate city streets, highways, and interstate routes efficiently while maintaining safe driving practices.
• Follow all DOT, FMCSA, state, and company transportation safety regulations.
• Maintain accurate driving logs, vehicle inspection reports, delivery documentation, and other required records.
• Communicate effectively with dispatchers, customers, dealerships, and other drivers regarding pickup and delivery status.
• Provide timely updates regarding delays, traffic, weather, mechanical issues, or other circumstances affecting scheduled deliveries.
• Perform routine maintenance and equipment checks and promptly report mechanical or safety concerns.
• Maintain a clean, professional appearance and provide courteous customer service.
• Demonstrate flexibility and the ability to respond to short-notice dispatches, schedule changes, and operational needs.
• Meet or exceed company performance, safety, productivity, and delivery goals.
• Perform other transportation-related duties as assigned.

Driver Requirements

• Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
• Minimum of 1 year of CDL driving experience.
• Must be able to operate 10 speed manual transmission.
• Minimum of 6 months of professional auto/car hauling experience OR at least 2 years of professional flatbed experience.
• Must reside at least 20 miles from Davenport, FL 33837.
• Demonstrated ability to safely load, secure, transport, unload, and deliver vehicles.
• Strong understanding of commercial vehicle safety practices and DOT/FMCSA regulations.
• Ability to perform thorough vehicle and equipment inspections.
• Strong knowledge of vehicle securing procedures and safe cargo handling.
• Ability to operate commercial vehicles in various traffic, road, and weather conditions.
• Ability to use GPS and electronic communication devices for navigation and dispatch communication.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to accurately complete delivery paperwork, inspection reports, and electronic documentation.
• Ability to work independently while maintaining consistent communication with dispatch.
• Ability to remain flexible and respond to short-notice assignments and changing delivery schedules.
• Ability to safely perform the physical requirements of loading and unloading vehicles and inspecting equipment.
• Fluency in English is required for effective communication with dispatch, customers, dealerships, and team members.
• Must maintain a safe driving record and meet company and insurance requirements.
