Edge Music Academy (EMA) is a locally and family-owned music school dedicated to providing high-quality music education in a fun, engaging, and supportive environment. As a musician-run academy, we value our instructors, prioritize fair pay, and aim to create meaningful and rewarding opportunities for music educators.

Position Overview

We are seeking a passionate and professional Voice Instructor to teach private voice lessons at our Homer Glen location.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in vocal technique and music education, be comfortable teaching students of a variety of ages and experience levels, and have the piano skills necessary to teach beginner-level private piano lessons.

We are looking for an instructor who is enthusiastic, dependable, personable, and committed to helping students build strong musical foundations while keeping lessons enjoyable and engaging.

Responsibilities

  • Teach private voice lessons in-studio, with occasional Zoom lessons when needed.
  • Teach healthy vocal technique, musicianship, repertoire, and performance skills appropriate to each student's age and ability.
  • Provide beginner piano instruction including technique, note reading, rhythm, music theory, and repertoire.
  • Adapt lessons to each student's individual goals, interests, learning style, and skill level.
  • Provide constructive feedback and communicate with students and parents to support musical progress.
  • Maintain a professional, positive, and engaging teaching environment.
  • Help students prepare for studio recitals and other performance opportunities when applicable.

Qualifications

  • Strong background in vocal technique and voice instruction.
  • Sufficient piano proficiency to confidently teach beginner piano students.
  • Strong understanding of music theory, musicianship, and effective teaching methods.
  • Ability to explain musical concepts clearly to students of different ages and experience levels.
  • Comfortable working with both children and adults.
  • Professional demeanor and strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Dependable, organized, and able to manage a consistent teaching schedule.
  • At least one year of private teaching experience preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in music, vocal performance, music education, or a related field preferred but not required.
  • Ability to pass a background check.
  • Ability to teach an additional instrument is a plus.

Why Join Edge Music Academy?

  • Join a growing, musician-run music academy.
  • Competitive pay based on experience and qualifications.
  • Opportunity to build a strong and consistent private teaching schedule.
  • Supportive, creative, and professional work environment.
  • Opportunities for additional teaching and growth as the academy expands.
