Job description

Semiconductor Equipment Field Service Specialist

Picture your morning starting at a customer fab: you review the maintenance plan, pull up the customer’s system to check prior downtime notes, and suit up for a scheduled preventive service. By midday, you’ve swapped consumables, verified system performance, and logged every step. The afternoon brings a new challenge—an unexpected hardware alarm. You consult operation manuals, run through service checklists, isolate the fault, replace a component, and validate the fix. Before heading out, you update reports for product movement and justify on-site work, notify the customer about a pending parts replacement, and confirm everything is safe and clean per EBARA and site policies.

What you’ll handle
  • Install, start up, maintain, and repair company tools at customer facilities and at the service center, covering contracted preventive maintenance, unscheduled calls, consumable changes, and new equipment installations.
  • Use operation manuals and technical references to pinpoint root causes of tool issues and performance drift.
  • Document all preventive work, downtime, issues encountered, and time-on-task; prepare reports supporting product movement and on-site service justification, while demonstrating proficiency with the customer’s reporting systems.
  • Independently execute preventive maintenance activities with minimal supervision.
  • Order and expedite parts; advise customers or management when product replacement is needed; repair or replace faulty components and confirm full system functionality.
  • Diagnose mechanical, hardware, software, and system-level failures using established maintenance checklists and protocols.
  • Follow Finesse training and procedures to accurately track parts usage and transactions.
  • Communicate clearly with customers about issues, solutions, and timelines; escalate complex problems to senior engineers or support teams when appropriate.
  • Comply with EBARA safety policies and complete all required safety training; maintain a clean, safe work area aligned with EBARA and customer safety standards.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.
What helps you thrive
  • Ability to lift 35 lbs. unassisted from floor to waist height.
  • Comfort reading and working from electrical and mechanical schematics and diagrams.
  • Capability to operate tools and equipment necessary to carry out essential job functions.
  • Effectiveness in a cross-cultural, fast-moving, and dynamic environment.
  • Capacity to perform essential duties without posing a direct threat to self, others, or property.
  • Reliability in meeting EBARA attendance and punctuality expectations.
  • Calm under pressure with competing deadlines; consistently cooperative with colleagues and supervisors.
  • If a respirator is required, ability to successfully pass the annual respirator fit test and medical evaluation.
Education
  • High school diploma or Associate of Science in Electronics, or completion of an accredited basic electronics program, or equivalent hands-on experience.
Experience
  • Preferred 4–6 years in a related field, ideally within the semiconductor industry.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical practices plus principles of semiconductor and/or vacuum technology.
  • Proven customer relations aptitude.
Skills and tools
  • Component-level troubleshooting proficiency.
  • Comfort with computers, including Microsoft Office and Internet Explorer.
  • Strong relationship-building and collaboration with internal teams and customers; excellent written and verbal communication.
  • High attention to detail and quality.
  • Ability to verify a good driving record when supporting offsite customer locations.
