Job description

Since 1954, Eidem Upholstery has been Seattle’s trusted destination for expert furniture restoration and custom upholstery. From cherished residential family heirlooms to high-volume commercial restaurant booths, we pride ourselves on exceptional craftsmanship and top-tier quality.

We are currently looking for a skilled Furniture Upholsterer or Seamstress to join our busy shop on Elliott Ave. Whether you are looking for part-time flexibility or a full-time home to practice your craft, we can build a schedule that works for your specific skillset and availability.

Key Responsibilities (Depending on your specific skillset):

  • Sewing/Seamstress Duties: Accurately measure, cut, and sew a wide variety of upholstery fabrics, vinyl, and leathers using industrial sewing machines.
  • Upholstery Duties: Tear down old furniture, repair foam/cushions, and meticulously reupholster couches, chairs, dining seats, and commercial booths.
  • Repairs: Execute detailed repairs, including fixing broken zippers, replacing buttons, and addressing structural wear and tear.
  • Quality Control: Ensure all finished pieces meet our strict 70-year standard for craftsmanship and durability before they are delivered back to the customer.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with our shop team to complete projects on time and maintain a clean, safe, and organized workspace.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Proven, hands-on experience in furniture upholstery, industrial sewing, or both.
  • Technical Skills: Comfortable operating industrial sewing machines, pneumatic staple guns, and traditional upholstery hand tools.
  • Material Knowledge: Familiarity working with a wide range of materials, including modern outdoor fabrics, heavy commercial vinyl, and delicate residential textiles.
  • Detail-Oriented: A sharp eye for pattern matching, clean seams, and flawless finishing.
  • Reliability: Dependable with a strong work ethic, whether you are committing to a full-time or part-time schedule.

What We Offer:

  • Highly flexible scheduling—we will work with you to create a Part-Time or Full-Time schedule that fits your life.
  • A creative, hands-on work environment in the heart of Seattle.
  • The opportunity to work on a massive variety of interesting projects, from antique restorations to modern commercial build-outs.
  • Competitive pay based strictly on your level of experience and technical ability.
