Technical Services Manager – Ferrous & Aluminum

Location: Canton, OH (or MI/WI)

Work Arrangement: On-Site/remote

About This Opportunity

We're seeking a Technical Services Manager – Ferrous & Aluminum to lead technical support and quality performance across our processing operations. In this pivotal role, you'll partner closely with Sales and Operations teams to deliver metallurgical expertise, resolve complex customer issues, enhance quality systems, and drive business growth. Based at our ferrous and aluminum processing facility in Michigan, Wisconsin, or Ohio, you'll be instrumental in elevating customer satisfaction, ensuring process consistency, developing our team, and championing continuous improvement across our manufacturing quality systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary technical resource for the Sales Team and support customer-facing technical discussions with confidence and expertise
  • Establish processing parameters for new and existing work using customer specifications, drawings, and purchase orders
  • Investigate rejected work and customer concerns through comprehensive metallurgical analysis, documentation review, and corrective action follow-up
  • Lead employee training in Statistical Process Control (SPC), inspection methods, recordkeeping, and heat-treating fundamentals
  • Maintain quality records, procedures, control plans, and metallurgical reports in accordance with quality system requirements
  • Monitor quality trends and identify opportunities for process improvement across plant operations
  • Support customers with product quality issues, prototype requests, and special technical needs
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and plant quality standards; travel 10–15% as needed
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science, or a related field
  • Five or more years of manufacturing experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong knowledge of heat-treating principles, hardness testing, microstructural analysis, and statistical process control
  • Strong knowledge of quality systems and standards, including ISO 9001, IATF 16949, CQI-9, CQI-12, and NADCAP
  • Ability to design and manage quality assurance systems in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, technical writing, and project management skills
  • Ability to apply engineering and metallurgical principles to quality and process decisions
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in ferrous and aluminum processing
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; Plex ERP experience
  • Proven track record of leading quality improvement initiatives
