General Laborer

Reports To: Food Systems Manager and/or Assigned DCR Department Supervisor
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Employment Type: Temporary, Seasonal, or On-Call
Position Summary
The General Laborer supports the Dry Creek Rancheria Band of Pomo Indians (DCR) by performing a wide range of manual labor tasks essential to the maintenance, upkeep, and day-to-day operations of DCR land, facilities, infrastructure, and landscaping activities. Under the direct supervision of the DCR Housing & Community Development Department's Food Systems Manager, this role is responsible for carrying out physically demanding work in a safe, efficient, and respectful manner while upholding DCR tribal and community values and adhering to all safety, environmental, and operational policies.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Facilities, Grounds & Infrastructure Support
  • Maintain common areas, trails, pathways, and outdoor facilities.
  • Perform landscaping tasks including mowing, weeding, planting, irrigation support, and trail maintenance.
  • Assist with loading, unloading, lifting, and moving materials or equipment as directed.
  • Conduct light custodial work such as cleaning common spaces, restrooms, offices, and the Community Center.
  • Perform minor, non-technical repairs and upkeep (no licensed trades work).

Land & Food Systems Support
  • Provide non-skilled agricultural labor such as planting, weeding, harvesting, post-harvest handling, and basic soil preparation.
  • Support farm infrastructure (e.g., simple fence repair, irrigation checks).

Event & Community Support
  • Assist with setup, takedown, and general labor needs for community events.
  • Maintain respectful interactions with residents and community members.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Must meet minimum age requirements and possess the physical ability to perform labor-intensive tasks (lifting, bending, digging, standing, etc.).
  • Must be able to successfully complete the required background check and pre-employment drug testing.
  • Must be able to successfully complete required safety and equipment-use (as applicable) training.
  • Ability to follow instructions, safety guidelines, and operational procedures.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States (I-9 verification required).
  • Must be able to understand and follow oral or written instruction in the English language.

Work Environment & Physical Demands
  • Work is primarily outdoors in varying weather conditions with exposure to the elements.
  • Frequent lifting, carrying, and physical exertion are required.
  • Must be able to lift and carry fifty (50) or more pounds.
  • Must be able to repeatedly bend or stoop (e.g., pick up trash from roadside, pull weeds, mop floors, etc.).
  • Must be able to repeatedly lift arms above shoulder level (e.g., throw bags and loose trash into a truck, enter vehicle cab, etc.).
  • Must be able to climb steps or ladders to reach objects.
  • Exposure to dust, noise, uneven terrain, and typical outdoor hazards may occur.
  • Must be able to wear personal protective or safety equipment (i.e. safety shoes, glasses, hearing protection, hard hats, etc.).

Violations of policy or unsatisfactory performance may result in removal from the laborer pool and/or termination of employment.
