Job description

Thinking of relocating to Central NY this spring?  We have the perfect opportunity for you!  

The Loft at Vesper Hills is dedicated to serving great food and promoting a great dining experience. Our staff prides itself on delivering creative daily specials, in addition to our daily menu, prepared fresh every day. The Loft overlooks Otisco Lake, and in addition to serving our valued customers, we also host many events including, but not limited to, weddings, bridal showers, baby showers, and fundraising golf tournaments.

We are looking for a dedicated and creative Sous Chef with a minimum of 3 years experience in the position. Being fluent in multiple cuisines is a must, and a willingness to learn and constantly expand your knowledge is preferable. This position is full time, with an expected 45 to 55 hours per week, with nighttime and weekend availability required. A culinary degree is a plus, but is not mandatory.

Responsibilities:

  • Help manage daily kitchen operations including:

    • Food preparation

    • Food presentation

    • Coordinating workflow

  • Adhering to food safety and sanitation regulations

  • Ensuring the highest standards of food quality are maintained

  • Supervise and train kitchen staff and assign tasks

  • Mentor to improve overall performance and techniques through on-the-job training

Qualifications:

  • Must be fluent in multiple cuisines

    • For example, Asian, Mexican, and Italian cuisines are often implemented into our specials menus, but we are not limited to these cuisines only. We are always open to different cuisines and foods from different cultures to enhance the dining experience of our customers.

  • The ability to assist in the creation of new menu items and specials, including their prices

  • Must create a welcoming work environment, with respect to those around them

  • We are looking for someone to lead by example and to set a positive tone daily

  • 45 to 55 hours per week is a requirement for this position. Anyone unable to meet this expectation need not apply
