Job description

Our busy downtown Dallas law and CPA firm is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and experienced Tax Preparer to join our growing team full-time. This position is ideal for a professional with strong experience in Drake Tax Software and Tax Office Management, who is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and handling a wide range of tax preparation and office management  responsibilities.

The ideal candidate is dependable, proactive, professional, and capable of managing multiple client matters efficiently while maintaining a high standard of accuracy and confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review individual and business tax returns accurately and timely
  • Work on federal and state tax filings for individuals, partnerships, corporations, and S corporations
  • Use Drake Tax Software to input, process, and finalize tax returns
  • Assist with tax planning support and year-round client tax matters
  • Communicate with clients to request documents, clarify tax information, and follow up on missing items
  • Help ensure compliance with tax deadlines and filing requirements
  • Organize electronic and physical client files in a secure and orderly manner
  • Support attorneys and other staff with financial, tax, and client service matters as needed
  • Assist with bookkeeping, payroll, and general accounting functions when necessary

Qualifications

  • Prior experience as a Tax Preparer required
  • Strong working knowledge of Drake Tax Software required
  • Strong experience with QuickBooks required
  • Experience preparing 1040, 1065, 1120, and 1120-S returns preferred
  • Familiarity with payroll tax filings, bookkeeping, and financial statements is a plus
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a busy professional office
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Professional demeanor and ability to maintain client confidentiality
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax, or related field preferred
  • CPA, EA, or other tax credentials are a plus, but not required

Preferred Skills

  • Experience working in a law firm, CPA firm, or tax advisory office
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills
  • Comfortable interacting with high-level clients and handling sensitive financial information
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe PDF tools, and document management systems
