Job description

Description:

UDC has an immediate need for a GIS Software QA Tester. The GIS Software QA Tester will work with GIS testing project teams and will be responsible for establishing industry standards for product quality and best practices in partnership with our existing PMO and Practice Areas at UDC.


Additionally, the GIS Software QA Tester will develop, create, and execute GIS regression and new release functionality test framework for various UDC projects. You may be required to travel up to 30%.



What you will do

  • Establish and refine industry standards and best practices in partnership with PMO and Practice Areas
  • Develop, create, and execute GIS regression and new release functionality test framework for various projects
  • Design, develop, and execute test plans, test cases, and test scripts based on product / project requirements and technical specifications
  • Identify, document, and track bugs and inconsistencies using issue tracking tools (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps)
  • Perform functional, regression, integration, and exploratory testing across web, mobile, or desktop applications
  • Collaborate closely with developers, product managers, and designers to clarify requirements and ensure testability
  • Participate in sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives as part of an Agile development team
  • Validate fixes and perform re-testing to ensure defects are resolved effectively
  • Contribute to test automation efforts by creating and maintaining automated test scripts (if applicable)
  • Analyze test results and provide clear, actionable feedback on product quality and risks
  • Help improve QA processes, tools, and best practices to increase efficiency and coverage
  • Ensure releases meet quality standards before deployment to production
  • Create and execute internal training for testing and project teams in partnership with our Learning and Development team
  • Responsible for coaching, career development, and performance review of Software QA Tester team within your competency area
  • Review user requirement documents to ensure that requirements are testable
  • Prepare data sets to test logic, effort handling, and system workflows
  • Perform testing on various software, utility systems and reporting systems
  • Isolate, reproduce, and document system defects
  • Document test execution and results according to required procedures
  • Track testing progress and results against numerous working scenarios for a single testable requirement
  • Work with development team to determine the most effective testing and inspection strategy for projects of varying complexity and size
  • Track and manage test environment configurations for accurate and effective testing results



Additional desired skills

  • Working with Schneider Electric ArcFM Suite of tools
  • Working and coding experience with the ArcFM Designer XI framework



What we look for from you

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Geography, Computer Science, IT)
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a QA Tester role
  • Previous experience as a testing lead on a project
  • 2-5 years of experience with GIS implementation projects
  • Experience creating and implementing processes, templates, and testing instructions
  • Experience with ESRI’s suite of GIS software and tools including ArcGIS Pro, ESRI’s Utility Network model, and Geometric Networks required
  • Experience in the utility industry (electric , gas or other utility experience)
  • Working knowledge of software development life cycle, quality assurance methodologies, and Waterfall and Agile/Scrum methodologies
  • Experience with quality assurance software testing, including Unit, System and Regression testing
  • Detail oriented, analytical and inquisitive
  • Ability to work independently and with others, strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to consistently stage testing data for workflow test scenarios accurately and thoroughly while keeping track of the testing environments
  • Extremely organized with strong time-management skills



Compensation range: $65,000 - $80,000/annually.

The compensation offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate’s skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
