Job description

Build What’s Next: A Day in the Life

You start your morning reviewing cycle-time data from a 5-axis VMC, validate a new toolpath in VERICUT, then huddle with quality engineers, QA, setup personnel, and machinists to align on today’s production priorities. By midday, you’ve optimized fixturing for a multi-axis mill-turn, coached operators on probing and macro programming, and documented updates to setup sheets. The afternoon brings DFM feedback with design engineering on a new release, followed by a quick Kaizen to squeeze waste out of a critical workflow—all while keeping safety, environmental, and regulatory standards front and center.

What You’ll Do
  • Develop and implement robust CNC machining processes for New Product Introduction (NPI), including tooling, fixtures, and programming for multi-axis equipment.
  • Create, refine, and validate CNC programs using CAD/CAM platforms, ensuring they meet drawings, specifications, and quality requirements.
  • Analyze end-to-end workflows to boost throughput, cut cycle times, and eliminate waste.
  • Partner with design engineers to drive manufacturability (DFM) early in the design phase.
  • Lead troubleshooting and root-cause analysis; implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Evaluate and select CNC machines, tooling, and technologies appropriate for NPI ramps.
  • Author and maintain process documentation: work instructions, setup sheets, and SOPs.
  • Train and mentor machinists and operators on best practices, probing, macros, and quality standards.
  • Champion Lean initiatives—5S, Six Sigma, and Kaizen—to enable continuous improvement.
  • Ensure adherence to safety, environmental, and applicable regulatory requirements.
Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years in CNC machining and process engineering.
  • Hands-on CNC programming, setup, and operation, including probing and macro programming.
  • Proficiency with CAD/CAM (SolidWorks CAD, Esprit CAM, Siemens NX CAD/CAM) and verification with VERICUT.
  • Deep experience in multi-axis machining: 3-, 4-, and 5-axis mills, plus multi-axis mill-turn lathes.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and customer standards.
  • Strong command of GD&T (Y14.5) and blueprint reading.
  • Extensive use of metrology and measurement systems.
  • Demonstrated Lean Manufacturing and process optimization experience.
  • Excellent problem-solving and root-cause analysis skills.
  • Clear communicator and effective collaborator across functions.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s in manufacturing engineering, mechanical engineering, or related discipline.
  • ERP/MRP familiarity (Epicor preferred).
Core Proficiencies
  • GD&T
  • CNC Programming
  • Process Engineering
  • Aerospace Manufacturing
  • Experience in a Manufacturing Environment
Machines & Technologies You’ll Use
  • CNC Mill (3–4 axis VMC): Haas, Okuma, Makino, DMG Mori Seiki, Fanuc
  • CNC Lathe (2–4 axis): Haas, Okuma, DMG Mori Seiki
  • CNC Swiss Lathe: Tsugami
  • CAD: SolidWorks, Siemens NX (NX CAD)
  • CAM: Esprit, Siemens NX
  • CNC Mill (5+ axis VMC): Okuma, Fanuc, DMG Mori Seiki, Haas
  • CNC Lathe (5+ axis): Okuma, Index, DMG Mori Seiki
