Role Description The Automotive Paint Supervisor/Manager is a Contract position, on-site role based around the Midwest, responsible for overseeing all paint operations in the shop. This role manages daily workflows, assigns tasks to paint technicians, and monitors quality and consistency across prep, priming, color matching, and finishing. The supervisor/manager ensures adherence to safety protocols, environmental regulations, and company standards, while maintaining accurate records of materials, inventory, and production schedules. Daily responsibilities include inspecting completed work, resolving paint-related issues, coordinating with other departments to meet delivery deadlines, and training team members on best practices. The role also involves improving processes, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and communicating clearly with leadership and customers regarding project status and expectations.

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of automotive paint processes, including surface preparation, priming, color matching, and finishing techniques.
  • Experience supervising or managing a paint shop or production team, with the ability to plan workloads and lead technicians effectively.
  • Understanding of safety standards, environmental regulations, and proper handling of paints, solvents, and related materials.
  • Ability to inspect work for quality, diagnose paint defects, and implement corrective actions efficiently.
  • Solid organizational and time-management skills, with experience using basic scheduling, tracking, or shop management tools.
  • Effective communication skills for coordinating with cross-functional teams and providing clear instructions and feedback.
  • Hands-on experience in automotive, industrial, or manufacturing environments; prior work in a high-volume paint or body shop is preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or certifications in automotive refinishing or coatings are a plus.
