Position Overview


The HR Generalist at DCC’s East Longmeadow, MA facility, will serve as a trusted resource for all employees, supporting the full employee lifecycle from recruitment through offboarding. Reporting to the HR Manager, this role combines hands-on HR administration with day-to-day employee engagement, ensuring our workforce is supported, compliant, and aligned with DCC’s operational and cultural objectives. You will work closely with the HR Manager, facility leadership, and corporate HR to deliver exceptional HR services while maintaining the highest standards of confidentiality and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities


  • Manage the full-cycle recruitment process for the East Longmeadow, MA facility, including job postings, screening candidates, coordinating interviews, conducting reference checks, and extending offers in partnership with hiring managers.
  • Facilitate comprehensive onboarding for new hires, ensuring smooth integration into the company culture, completion of all required paperwork, system access setup, and initial training coordination.
  • Serve as a first point of contact for employee relations matters, providing guidance on policies, procedures, and day-to-day issues while escalating complex investigations and disciplinary matters to the HR Manager.
  • Process and administer payroll-related tasks using Paycom, including time and attendance review, PTO tracking, wage adjustments, deduction changes, and ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing.
  • Maintain employee records in Paycom and ensure HRIS data integrity, including personnel files, organizational charts, job descriptions, and compliance documentation.
  • Administer employee benefits programs, serving as a resource for benefits questions, coordinating open enrollment, processing qualifying life events, and liaising with benefits providers.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, including maintaining required postings, managing leave administration (FMLA, ADA, workers' compensation), and supporting workplace safety initiatives.
  • Support performance management processes, including goal setting, performance reviews, performance improvement plans, and employee development initiatives.
  • Coordinate and deliver employee training programs on topics such as harassment prevention, workplace safety, company policies, and professional development.
  • Partner with management on employee engagement initiatives, recognition programs, and activities that support the DCC culture and strengthen team cohesion.
  • Manage the offboarding process, including conducting exit interviews, processing terminations, coordinating final pay and benefits continuation, and gathering feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Generate HR metrics and reports to support data-driven decision making, including turnover analysis, time-to-fill, headcount reports, and compliance tracking.
  • Collaborate with leadership, the corporate HR team and the Mountainside HR Manager to ensure consistency in policies, procedures, and best practices across all DCC facilities.
  • Support special HR projects and initiatives as needed, demonstrating flexibility and a commitment to continuous improvement of HR operations.


Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred; 3-5 years of HR generalist experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proven experience with Paycom HRIS or similar payroll and HR management systems, with demonstrated ability to process payroll functions and maintain system accuracy.
  • Strong working knowledge of federal and state employment laws, including FMLA, ADA, Title VII, FLSA, and Massachusetts-specific regulations.
  • Experience in manufacturing or printing and packaging industry environment preferred, with understanding of production workflows and blue-collar workforce management.
  • PHR, SHRM-CP, or other HR certification preferred but not required.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and credibility with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated discretion and ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with the highest level of professionalism and integrity.
  • Problem-solving mindset with ability to navigate complex employee situations and provide practical, compliant solutions.
  • Proactive and self-motivated with high level of initiative and ability to work independently while also being a collaborative team player.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and ability to learn new technology platforms quickly.
  • Customer service orientation with a genuine desire to support employees and create a positive workplace experience.
