Job Description:
LEAPS Teacher for CMS and DMS
Reports To:
LEAPS project directors
Dept/School:
CMS and DMS
Employment:
Up to 3 hours a day for 160 days, LEAPS grant funded.
Calendar:
160 days
Salary Grade:
Hourly, based on grant

Qualifications:
Current Dickson County Schools Employee, experience working with middle school students preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of the core academic subject assigned.
Knowledge of curriculum and instruction
Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Performance Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
  1. Prepares for class and shows evidence of preparation when requested by the site director.
  2. Prepares for assigned classes using appropriate materials to meet the needs of the individual student.
  3. Uses audiovisual/technological aids and other materials to supplement the presentation.
  4. Organizes lessons.
  5. Uses a variety of evaluation strategies and records results when appropriate.
  6. Works as a cooperative Teacher to make modifications for students with learning differences as needed so the students can feel successful in the classroom.
  7. Conducts and maintains a classroom environment conducive to learning.
  8. Encourages students to maintain appropriate standards of classroom behavior.
  9. Maintains order in the classroom and on school grounds/property.
  10. Assists in enforcing school rules, Board policies, and administrative regulations.
  11. Maintains accurate attendance, grade records, and permanent records as required by the school system and the State Department of Education.
  12. Assumes responsibility for all classroom activities and directs the duties of the instructional assistants who have been assigned to them.

Standard office equipment, including a personal computer.

Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting

Repetitive hand motions, including frequent keyboarding and use of the mouse, occasional reaching.

Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)
Environment:
Work is performed in an office setting; may require occasional irregular and/or prolonged hours

Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress
